This whole discussion is bizarre to me. We care about basketball, even though a decade of suck.
We also care about baseball. We care about everything.
I guess that's why we're tFlagship.

The big 3 are:
College Football
College Basketball
Womens' College Basketball
The SEC is pretty good in all 3.

The only program consistently ranked in the top 25 for attendance in football, basketball, and baseball = tFlagship.

Too many schools care more about baseball than basketball which I think is a huge problem
I have no problem with this.
Me either.

Who exactly? The fans or the schools?
Alabama pays Anthony Grant almost $2M a year.
Auburn just built a new arena and hired Pearl.
Ole Miss is building a new arena.
South Carolina has a newer arena and hired Frank Martin.
I think it's just time for these new coaches to win.

When will we decide to make it a trifecta and put serioues effort into bball. UK and UF can only carry us so far.
How many teams did we put in the NCAA tournament last year dummy?

Interesting info on this site. Most talent comes from the Midwest and northeast, but it looks like Mississippi and Louisiana should have the in-state talent per capita to build a program.

The south has a coaching/development problem in both AAU and high school ball.

I could see that slowly changing. WIth the increasing trends of specialization of high school athletes and parents not letting their kids play football. I could see more top high school athletes concentrate on bball.

Seems to me that basketball is more popular in the northeast due to weather and metropolitan areas. In the city it's easier to find a court to play on than a field to play football or baseball. I'd imagine colder temps have athletes indoors playing basketball instead of outside playing other sports.
I think the rise of the sec in football has pulled a lot of athletes from basketball to football in the south, too. I don't recall any bball player ever getting free crab legs :)
