I think publicly partnering with a program like the knights is better than the shady way some schools have done it.

Teurlings brought in a travel ball coach as an assistant 4 years ago and he brought his entire 2027 class team with him. These kids got preferential treatment from day one and a lot of talented kids were pushed aside with no opportunity to earn playing time. As a result, there is more literal daddy ball and pay to play at Teurlings than most travel teams. It’s a big reason the head coach was not retained. Hopefully the new head coach returns to a baseball focused competitive approach.

My grandfather served in the first marine Paratrooper battalion (because it paid $1 more/week) and fought at Guadalcanal and Choiseul (which is a great story of a small group of marines creating a diversion to cover the Bougainville battle plans, my grandfather is mentioned in a book about it called ‘Mission Raise Hell’) and after they disbanded the battalion, he was assigned to the 5th and eventually lost his leg to a mortar shell on Iwo Jima.
