We shouldn't give credit to Ole Miss or Miss State for actually being good.

The credit should go to power programs like Bama, Auburn, and LSU having a crappy year which has weakened the West and made it more competitive.

I'm not necessarily saying the decline is real...but the decline is real.

Ole Miss and Miss State still suck as bad as they've always sucked.

The difference is this year the power teams happen to suck more.

The powers of the west wanted to have the bottom feeders taste success for a short while.

Order is partially restored.

No. That only applies to Missouri last year when they won the East because the West has only lost one game to anyone except itself.

But, you knew that, right?

This does remind me a little of the East last year.

Nah. The SEC West and the SEC in general are only down when Alabama wins the conference.

I know the OP is new to the SEC, but in the SEC when Auburn is good it means the rest of the SEC is down. Don't go giving that title to Ole Miss and MSU.

no no, this logic is only correct for other leagues. When the bottom feeders are winning in the SEC it means the conference is ridiculously deep. Now if Indiana and Purdue are leading the Big10 next year 8 weeks in, expect calls for dissolution of the conference on account of it's unrecoverable collapse.

you seem to still be big12ing, you should be SECing.

Buffalo pies.
Ole Miss and State ARE good this year, but so is Bama and Auburn. At one point this year ALLLLL 4 were in the Top 5.
LSU is a top 15 team and with a little luck could stay in the top 15 or better after the bowl games.

Seriously? Look at the facts. The overall record of the SEC West to date is 43-12. Of the 12 losses, exactly 1 has come against a team NOT in the SEC West (the worst team in the West loses to the best team in the East). A tough division that cannibalizes itself. Anyone (including Condi Rice and friends) who discounts the SEC West because 'Bama, Auburn and Ole Miss have 1 loss each (and LSU has 2) simply isn't being honest (or isn't being competent).

Yep, it seems like every year at some point the West has 4 teams rated in the top 5. Down for sure.
