dude I'm not mad at all...I'm realistic. LSU is very, very talented, but very, very young....they will win 7-8 games this year...but they will be much improved next year. Why would I be mad? If LSu can't win it, then I'm for MSU to win it....but let's be real. State is not suddenly going to become an elite SEC program...that's all I'm saying. Good luck on the rest of the season.

Well that settles it, Tigerinthehollow is from the fricking future.

Les Miles will take the Michigan job, Malzhan will take the LSU job, Hugh Freese will take the Auburn job, and Mullins will then take the Ole Miss job. MSU will then be left with no other choice but to hire Lane Kiffin as new head coach.

I'm not going to argue with you. If you believe MSU is there to stay at the top of the SEC, well, congrats man....I just think you are refusing to look rationally at what you are losing next year. You exchange Prescott and Jennings....and MSU is a 4-5 loss team.....not to mention all the seniors on defense. But hey, good luck...wasn't trying to be an arse....most intelligent MSU fans I know irl understand what is going on. Apparently, you refuse to see it.

I'm not claiming your points are wrong, but at the start of this season everyone put State at 6th in the West and a total of 7-8 wins. You don't fricking know what's gonna happen, so stop acting like you do. It's ok to have an opinion, but telling us it's fact makes you look like a stupid a-hole.....that's a damn fact

Why? so the stars can align again in about 10-15 years? Seriously, you are completely delusional if you think Miss State is going to stay anywhere near where they are this year. Next year, they will come into the season unranked again...only next year, reality will be back in full force. Dan knows this....he knows you can't win long-term there and that everything has to work perfect once in 10 years just to have one good year. It's not a slam...it's the truth.

Our AD just said Mullen will "have the opportunity to stay here for asking as he wants". Sounds like he is ready to shell out the cash and, seeing a Mullen and Muschamp make the same amount of money, I don't think UF is.

There will be several better jobs open. Just a question of if they'll want him or not.
He'll leave if he can. He knows he caught lightening in a bottle and a big drop off is coming. Same fanbase that wanted him fired a year ago.
I will say though, if they win something he might stay because he'll get a fat extension and earn enough good will to survive multiple mediocre to bad years.

We love being here = Leaving in a pine box.

don't worry a $5+ million a year contract offer will do the talking, with the size of MSU's stadium the ticket prices would have to go up to absurd values to support a match to that contract

let the season play out.
MSU is a very good team, but half the season is still in front of everybody.
Mullen and Dak are COY and Heisman winner up to now.
Let's see how they finish.
Will injuries play a role?
A bad break or two?
Could Bama or Ole Miss beat them?
Kentucky might have the chest at home?
I believe MSU is really good, but weird things happen in football.
Mullen may stay, but at least he will get a raise.

As soon as he mentions anything about a "Pine Box" you know he gone.

quote:Why? Easy, look at Vanderbilt. James Franklin also had a "job for life", and chose to leave it when the right suitor came along. I'm assuming that's because he knew he had the program max'd out, and 2 things would happen: people would expect the same and want more, and his program would slide back to where it really sits in the conference. That combination of occurrences can lead to being run off.
Why would he leave for a much bigger pressure job. He wins 8 or 9 games a year and he has a job for life
Franklin now looks like he made a great decision, as Vanderbilt has plummeted and he has the reigns at Penn St, where he should be able to recruit a lot better.
Mullen was already being pushed out the door prior to this season. Unless he really, truly believes he can sustain State as an annual top 10 program (unlikely), then he knows they will slide back down again, and his arse will be on the line. Again.
It sure seems like his style of play would fit in Michigan, where there's a lot more money and the field is more level. He wouldn't be trying to raise an underdog, he'd be restoring a conference power, while that conference was down.

Exaggerate much? Being pushed by who? A few loud mouths on a message board? Somebody starting a website? Did he have some pressure on him from the fans? Sure. What coach doesn't? Look at Les and LSU fans love/hate relationship. Seat gettin warmed and pushed out the door are two different things. Stansbury was basically pushed out the door.
