I'm more thinking of how long the drive will be from Austin to CS before the game

I would bet on three hours, it can get trafficy. Park at the mall and then ride the bus in to campus.

park at the mall
the problem is that he is coming from the West and the mall is on the East side of town. By the time he bypasses BCS, parks and catches the bus, he could have parked at the edge of West Campus and walked anywhere he wants to go.

Did not realize it was ACL. ACL is a blast, but good luck finding a hotel room closer than thirty miles to downtown Austin.

So if I can't get a room in Austin, what would be the ideal town to stay in between CS and Austin?

I think you underestimated how many Aggies live in Austin when making this troll thread. It's way too believable thus the legit answers

Lost Pines is in Bastrop, which also has chain hotel/motels. 40 min from Austin.

You need to be in CS well over 3 hours before the game to get a parking space within 4 miles...seriously. We seat 107k now but the parking is still at 88k.

No such thing, unless you enjoy towns with 200 people with names like "dime box," white trash women, big messican chicks, and orchards where you can pick your own pecans.

So if you can get a place in Austin, I'd do that. If not, I'd stay in Houston if I was you. Lots of cool little bars near downtown and rice university.

Post game:

In CS, Republic is a nice resto with a good cocktail selection. Northgate is within walking distance, which is cool if you're not an Aggie and under 25, or 30 if you still look 25. If not, downtown Bryan is your best bet.

Also, the previous posters are right about Hyatt lost pines. If you can get a place there, forget the rest and stay. If you go to Texags they are usually promoting some stay package or other in the zoo aka Aggie Football forum, so I'd check there as well.

It's touristy but Pete's Piano Bar on 6th street will show you a good time. Plus you get to walk up and down 6th street and the crowd is alot of fun.
