I'd rather you and everyone else yell also in the direction of the field, that's much louder on the field than being a dick with the cowbell.

You see, the cowbell rang upwards projects sound to where? Above? that's not where the action is at. The sky isn't where we need sound, it's on the ground..So when everyone yells it's a much louder place.

However, I don't think we'll have to worry about any of this because that new expansion has helped us out tremendously sound-wise.

They'll just keep increasing the fine until y'all eventually stop.

Is the artificial noise maker ban still in place?

It's $50k for this f'up...

Ringing constantly just makes our whole fanbase look like inbred retards. Totally oblivious to the reality that yelling is louder on the field -- and ringing "responsibly" makes the tradition so much cooler and less annoying.

Ringing constantly = compensating for something that we're actually not missing. Not anymore.

I wish I were making the trip up from NOLA for this game. I've been doing so much traveling recently and really need a couple weekends to stay home and keep things together here.

I am pretty sure that the vast majority of people at the game think that the people that cannot put their bell down and just yell when it is appropriate are retards.

Just sayin'.

Having said that, it is pretty clear that most retards don't mind if people think they are retards.

If possible, I'd like to see raymond's take on responsible ringing.

The state of Mississippi is going to be one giant shite show on Saturday. If both teams win then north-central Mississippi will be in ruins Sunday morning.

One of the not-so-cool parts of last Saturday was the 25 or so percent of fans who continue to ignore the rules on cowbell etiquette. This totally perplexes me. Dak Prescott doesn’t need fans ringing when they shouldn’t to make a dazzling play for our State. Bernardrick McKinney doesn’t need fans ringing when they shouldn’t in order to deliver a crushing tackle.

Why anyone who professes love for this university would ring their cowbell when they’ve been told not to do so is beyond me. It’s selfish and disrespectful, two things Mississippi State does NOT represent. When you ring at times not allowed, you are telling Mark Keenum, Dan Mullen, myself and thousands of Bulldogs who have worked hard to legitimize this great tradition at our games that you don’t appreciate their efforts, and that you’re willing to risk having cowbells removed from Davis Wade Stadium altogether in the future.

A vast majority of our fans follow the rules governing artificial noisemakers (which says they can be rung except when the center is over the football). To those of you who do so, thanks. If you see someone disregarding the rules, do me a favor and ask them to stop. If we continue having this issue, security will be deployed to either remove offending cowbells, or the individuals who are ringing irresponsibly, from the stadium.

Remember, we are allowed to bring cowbells into Davis Wade Stadium because the other 13 SEC schools voted to allow it. If we continue to have problems following the rules, then they may decide to rescind that privilege. The last thing any of us want is to have to install metal detectors at the gates.

I appreciate everyone’s diligence with this important issue.

Every short-sighted fan who thinks the fine is all that is stake here needs to consider the next generation of fans. My nephew can walk into the stadium openly ringing a cowbell. Will that be the case in 10 years?

Your actions will have very little difference on the field and will have dramatic difference in generations of State fans.

I understand the 2-year-old like response that being told 'no' has in some of you, but just put the bell down and yell.

I spent too much time yelling by myself this past weekend.

The directional acoustics of a person yelling with their hands cupped over their mouths makes a lot more noise at the line of scrimmage than the cowbell. You need both hands to do this.

Remember the tradition started with just one cowbell. It's bigger than you. Ring responsibly.

Always ring responsibly guys. I know the fine is not a big deal but I think they will end up taking our bells away if we abuse them.

This is why Mississippi State Security has to start removing people from the stadium that will not act responsibly. You can't leave it up to people to do the right thing when they have no respect for the university or the team.... And yes you are disrespecting both by breaking the rules.
