When Sumlin's contract LETS someone have him in 2017 there will be more obvious candidates.
It's crazy that aggies think just b/c the contract says he can't, that he cant just break the contract....you know like almost all other coaches do when they leave their current school for another, and tons of other football examples both coaching and player wise. Sure there may be financial penalties but if he went to an NFL team, you can bet your arse that team will be paying for those and not Sumlin

ITT: Aggies convincing themselves that Sumlin is going to stay.

The are paying Hoke 4.1 milly ...Im sure they could afford him.
So because they pay their current coach a million less than Sumlin makes now they can afford him?
Your logic makes no sense.
Plus "national recruiting" only works if your program is sexy ala Oregon. This isn't the 70s with three games on each weekend. Having a natural talent base matters.

I am sure there is a penalty, and its five million dollars.
NO college program would pay a $5 million dollar buyout to us for the RIGHT to pay him $7 million a year. If an NFL team pays it, well then we are rich bitch!

While thats true, dont underestimate Michigan in recruiting. With just the helmet, you can walk into any kids home. the program is still a heavyweight. They have the recruits, its the coach thats terrible.

He ain't leaving till he's finished busting the SEC-W all to hell!

Sure you can get in, but can you get the commitment?
Michigan has no local recruiting base. It will play the same game tOSU does- scout the south for talent-but Michigan's brand is worse so they will have less success than tOSU.

I keep forgetting. Is Sumlin a terrible coach that doesnt know defense or is he the one being courted by every major college and NFL program which are willing to drop 7 million a year salary plus 5 mil buyout to steal him from the aggsies?

Sure if you say so. Maybe Muschump!

Was posted earlier on 24/7 that they actually interviewed Sumlin before hiring Hoke, but since the Rich Rodriguez experiment was a "disaster" in their eyes, they didn't want to duplicate their mistake and went with Hoke.
Not saying Sumlin would have gone there if offered but Michigan fans weren't too thrilled to learn about this, let's put it that way.
