Florida is a big game for OJ Howard

You gotta think they are going to be focusing on Cooper until we do something else. If we are not targeting our 6'6" 240 4.5 40 TE in those circumstances, OJ would be pretty justified in transferring out to A&M, dropping back down to 225 like his body want to naturally, playing 2 years there and going in the first round as a WR. We gotta start using him. We have lots of guys who can block if thats all he is going to do here.

This isn't a new thing though. We had Howard last year and he didn't record catches against:
Va Tech
Ole Miss
Tennessee
Chattanooga
Oklahoma
and he recorded one catch against:
LSU
Miss. St.
Georgia State
Arkansas
I suspect he will get more catches this weekend as Cooper should be double covered on a lot of plays. I am sure Sims can get him the football, and I don't think he's going to transfer because a draft eligible first round WR is catching tons of balls against the cupcakes of the schedule.
Howard has next year, and this year to impress. He impressed in his limited action last year and regardless if he catches a 12 yard gainer against FAU, NFL scouts are looking at him.

im not so sure that Florida wont just put VH3 on him. Kiffin is gonna be moving Coop all around the formation so it will be hard to keep him doubled. I just dont know if VH3 will follow him all around. I've asked Florida fans but havent got an answer.

Yeah I think I read that OJ averaged 0.5 receptions/game after he outran LSU's secondary last year. For some reason, we just haven't made him a priority

Yeah, I'm not sure why people are surprised. All I hear about is how great he is, why is he being thrown the ball then? Do we have evidence of plays where he is being missed, or do people just want to fuss?

I don't see him getting many looks unless it's to the sidelines. I just don't think Sims is comfortable trying to attack the middle of the field unless it's a crossing route.

I think he would have to sit out 2 years if he transfers to a school in the conference.

Maybe it's Howard's fault that the ball isn't being thrown his way

It's possible. But the TE has never been a priority in a Lane Kiffin offense.

Until he can learn to block consistently he wont be a big target

I heard the opposite after the hire.
2 QBs, 2 OCs, little production.

Lining Howard at wr with Vogler in at TE will get the job done.

Yea I thought USC always use the TE...The problem is that we have too many weapons.

Why is that? I would understand if blocking struggles were keeping him off the field, but he's on the field a lot, moreso on running plays than passing plays.

If he is only in on situations when he is going to get the ball that kind of gives away what type of play it is....Kind of weird that Michael Williams got more targets than our TE. It just seems that Blake Sims would rather throw to Cooper than anyone. In the playaction plays he would rather throw to Coop deep than the underneath guy everytime.

I believe once teams double up on Coop, the ball will be directed towards OJ.
Matter of fact after watching the wall UK WR abuse the UF defender, I wouldn't be shocked if OJ caught more passes than Coop in the UF game regardless if Coop was or was not double teamed.

Could be. But I'm having a hard time believing that he's being completely blanketed as to only get 1 target in 3 games.

Hopefully they will be unleashed on Saturday...Besides the WV game we didn't have to do much besides throw screens because they couldn't stop it.
