Auburn's enrollment

I have a simple question about Auburn's enrollment. Most public universities seem to want to grow by enrollment and in fact have goals set up to increase under grad enrollment by certain dates. Is Auburn happy with it's current enrollment or has Auburn maxed out due to space restraints? Also, does anyone know if Auburn has any plans in place to grow by enrollment? I'll hang up and listen. Thanks.

Auburn's enrollment hasn't really increased in over 30 years. They don't plan to grow enrollment either from what I understand.

We have a stated goal of. 25,000 which I do not understand. They do want to grow Auburn Montgomery.

Stanford has ~15k combined students. We need to grow our endowment and brand, not student population.

I don't believe the answer is increasing student population but I can't really argue against people that believe that

Tim Cook needs to get off his lazy arse and drop us a billion.

Auburn wouldn't really be Auburn if we had a huge enrollment. The small town feel is what attracts a lot of people.

There's definitely truth to that which is a major reason I don't believe the student enrollment should increase

I asked this question in the other thread. I think we need to be around 20,000 undergraduates.
Will the new research park being developed by the interstate affect our endowment at all? I wish I knew more about how that process works. It'd be nice to have an area like the triangle near raleigh/durham but near Auburn.

I was curious as to if Auburn was having difficulty attracting kids or not. Thanks guys.

We don't have difficulty. Our average ACT score has increased every year

I appreciate striving to keep a small population, but one way to generate endowment is to generate more alumni.

Not true. We peaked a couple years ago at just over 27. We are down to 25.9 as of 2013. Current enrollment of the freshman class is also a few hundred less than the year prior.

The last year that Auburn gave full tuition Presidential scholarships was 2010. It has decreased to $16,000 per year. This could be a reason why ACT scores have decreased. I'd like to see AU stay at about 20,000 undergrad students.

Quality over quantity or something like that.
Truth though is I like AU just the way it is. 21-22k when I was there, about the same now. Just seems like the right fit for our campus and town IMO.

Agreed. I want to keep the student population where it is. I don't want us to pull a bama and just let anyone with a HS diploma in to add to the student population knowing that those that had marginal GPAs and test scores are going to fail out within a year.

Get Tim Cook to give over some righteous bucks...
The other is to really become a research university. Auburns school of business is not. Doesnt even have a PhD program yet. I sit on a committee of industry folks in Supply Chain and Dean Hargraves told us that the plan is to have a PhD program for business school within 5 years. However much of that involves drawing and hiring and retaining some rock star professors who can draw industry money and attention.

To me, all signs point to Auburn trending in the direction of Ivy League of the South....Average ACT score of newly admitted freshman is something like 28. Average family household income of new freshman are crazy high....
How do you grow an endowment? Admit incredibly intelligent rich kids who are more than likely going to be incredibly wealthy professionals one day, who will send their money and their own incredibly wealthy kids to AU.
