Was Dakota Prescott scared to play in the 2013 Egg Bowl?

This hit me the other day. I was thinking about how hyped this young man is, and thought back to last year, a pretty below average year for any other SEC QB but anyway.
Was he not ruled out for the Egg Bowl, too injured to play correct? So the game starts- he saw that MSU actually had a chance to beat big bro and then comes in at the end to be the hero.
So if he was healthy enough to come in and play at the end, why wasn't he healthy enough to start the game? Is that the kind of kid you really want playing for you?

They say time heals all wounds. It is abundantly clear that the amount of time needed to heal dakota's wounds over-lapped with the start time of the Egg Bowl.

Dak is a closer, man. You don't ask a closer to do the, er, grindwork.

I think that he wasn't healthy enough to play a full game. Mullen played Williams so that we'd play conservative (which we did) so that they would keep it close and try to pull it out at the end. We played afraid of making mistakes and right into their hands.

Mullen figured a true freshman would put up plenty of points against Freeze's Bubble-fense, so there was no need to risk further injury to a future Heisman winner. He was almost right.
