This could take a while...

Number 4 would be an interesting debate.
Number 12 would be an interesting debate
57 would be an interesting debate. And on and on

1 - Al Bell

4 is really tough.

I can't think of anyone that wore 5 except Patrick Hape, but then I think he switched numbers to 38, or maybe he switched from 38 to 5. Can't remember.

Seems like there was a LB or S in the early 90's that wore 16? Lemanski Hall maybe?

ETA: Actually didn't Tony Nathan wear #5?

22 - Musso (Ingram)

With all due respect...with ALL due respect, you have to have Ingram as the best to ever wear 22. The school's only Heisman winner, a guy who was a beast for three years, did everything the right way, etc. He's the guy.

Musso at Bama:
574 carries, 2,741 yards, 4.8 per carry, 34 TDs
61 receptions, 495 yards, 8.1 per catch, 4 TDs
3,236 total yards, 5.1 yards per touch, 38 TDs

Ingram at Bama:
572 carries, 3,261 yards, 5.7 per carry, 42 TDs
60 receptions, 670 yards, 11.4 per catch, 4 TDs
3,931 total yards, 6.2 yards per touch, 46 TDs

Ingram had 3 fewer career touches (amazing how close their # of carries and their # of catches were) but had 695 more career yards and 8 more TDs.

MI beat him in every category that counts.

FWIW on the names for 56 and 36, those are essentially the best that they have. Based on rosters from 1961-2014.

I'd go Oden for 56, Wingo for 36(he was in the Goal Line Stand). Owens was a PB AA with Mike Hall in '67 though.

I think Vaughn Mancha has a strong case over Upshaw at #41. There's Johnny "Hurri" Cain at #25, he's in the CFBHOF. Same with Riley Smith at #26.

Lots of youngsters in this thread.

Homework assignment...somebody go back and take a quick glance at the top 4 or 5 receivers in school history...and remember, this guy basically got all his receiving stats in only two 12 game seasons...and then fill in number 84.

Edit...hint: Imagine DJ Hall's reaction had Saban come in his first year and told DJ that they weren't gonna throw him the ball anymore and that he just wanted him to block.

Listen, Julio is a clearcut winner at #8.

But I loved Freddie Roach on defense when he played. Seemed like he made 20 tackles a game. Just wanted to give a shout out to FR.
