- Auburn could stake claim to several more national titles as early as this fall. (bonus picture of a Barnerette in a sexy ski cap)

They just want to claim more titles to make it look like they haven't been Alabama's little bitch for 100 years.

back a few weeks ago when this was news, I emailed JJ to tell him not to frick it up
he replied

Thank you for your outreach. Information shared across social media platforms is often inaccurate or incomplete. To the subject of National Champions, the NCAA record book has Auburn documented as National Champions in 2010, 1993, 1983, 1957 and 1913 (Source: NCAA Record Book). While Auburn does not currently formally recognize additional national champions other than 1957 and 2010, the subject of doing so is still open for consideration and discussion among the Auburn Family regarding how we choose to recognize the great accomplishments of our student athletes. That being said, Auburn will never claim anything we did not earn. To that, the discussion is based solely on how to formally acknowledge the honor and National Champion distinction that has been previously documented and bestowed upon these teams in the NCAA Record Book.

If other schools are counting championships a certain way, then we should count that same exact way."
Except literally no one else does what they're talking about doing.

Who's going to be on the committee?

Hell why not.
I think if every SEC team would count every football national championship that they earned and were also named by an association, index, ranking, publication, etc. some of us would have more.
I know LSU would be able to count (besides '58, '03 and '07):
1908, 1935, 1936, 1961, 1962, and 2011
Ole Miss, Bama and Auburn would have more. Not sure about UT, UGA, Arky, A&M ??

No one takes these "claims" serious anymore. There are some seasons with 4 freaking programs claiming that year. Its beyond stupid at this point and Im glad Mizzou has stayed away from embarrassing themselves claiming some years that many teams would have done in a heartbeat already.

The "discussion" is just a formality. AU will add more titles, if not this year then soon.

Wow. They might catch up to Alabama in the offseason!

We should claim them all!

JJ takes one step forward, and two steps back.

I think it may be time for a Committee on Hypocrisy.

We should form a committee to decide which of our other 14 titles the NCAA give us that we gonna count.
