I can't imagine there's much of a transition from Prattville, Al to Oxford, Ms. If he does go to Auburn, he will have to sit a year won't he?

I assume Prattville is in Alabama ?

This is why I was surprised that he signed with Ole Miss. Bama brought in both Tunsil and Golson on the same weekend for OV, and I heard that didn't go well because Golson was jealous of all of the attention that Tunsil was receiving.

At least one year. Two years if Freeze blocks his transfer to an SECw school, but it sounds like Freeze won't do that.

..But hey... If he took the money and dipped, that's a straight player move

Can the coaching staff even talk to the kid? I'm guess they can't. We are scheduled to take a good bit of OL this recruiting cycle and having a highly rated OL transfer in would impact that I would imagine.

I would block the hell out of his transfer. Leaving cause you're "homesick"? That's such weak sauce. Either he was just over OM or really is a candy arse who can't be too far from momma. It's really gonna bum him out to know there's not a pro team in AL to aspire for either.
One of my biggest peeves is when people that age still can't handle leaving home. It's not like Oxford is on the other side of the country.

I say we close the door to Auburn and Bama for Golson. If it's really about family he'll appreciate the chance to play for Troy or South Alabama. This is where the whole nice guy shtick Freeze portrays really pisses me off.

and it's no like every major school doesn't have people that will "take you in" like you're their family.

Agreed. If he wants to play for another SECW team, go the Alvin Kamara route and spend one year in JUCO before going to wherever you want.

That among a litany of other options. If you can't feel comfortable with other college kids, coaches, teammates or bag men then you're not gonna amount to all that much.
I hope Freezesus shows his Old Testament side on this.

quote:What if momma is sick? What if he just doesn't like the Ole Miss environment? Prattville is pretty bucolic as I recall. Nothing worse than being in a place you don't like. College years are some of the fondest memories. How do you fault a guy for seeking happiness? That being said, if Freeze gives him an unconditional release, I would really wonder about him (Freeze).

I want to say the kid lives with his grandmother? That may have something to do with it. He can still get to the league by playing at Troy.

What's he gonna do when he realizes Alabama doesn't have a pro team?

Absolutely, Diamondawg.
I'm not judging him for wanting to go home--there aren't many things worse than being someplace you don't want to be.
I was just expecting home to be a very different locale, that's all.
Good luck to him.

If mom is sick then he can get one of those fancy hardship transfers or w.e they're called and play immediately. I personally think those are abused a ton but they're necessary. And I have yet to see this being the case.
And if he wants to leave cause he dislikes oxford then despite failing to live up to his commitment that's fine. What bugs me is if what posters here have said is true and he's homesick. I'm not anti transfer but I have no respect for homesick college kids.
And yea, freeze needs to limit his options. Except for UGA cause richt wants to help and we need tackles
