Mizzou folks or anyone familiar with KC. I'm Taking the wife to KC for our anniversary, staying in Overland Park. Going to do Gates and Arthur Bryants to critique the BBQ, other than that what are the best things to do?

Sounds boring. Have fun!

Staying in kansas? everything good is in MO

Union Station is a good place to go, they have exhibits to see, restaurants, a giant IMAX screen, and other various things to do there.

Crown Center and the Country Club Plaza are the city's premier shopping places, and the Plaza has Kansas City's finest restaurants.

As an Arkansas fan, I assume you appreciate basketball. DEFINITELY go to the Sprint Center and see the national College Basketball Hall of Fame which also includes the College Basketball Experience which is very, very cool.

Royals games are a good time..it's a great ballpark to see a game. Also, Sporting KC games are a very good time (you don't have to like soccer at all...I've yet to hear a person not having a great time there, including people who think soccer is boring or "gay")

Nelson Atkins Museum of Art is very good if you have interest in that kind of thing, as well as the Kauffman Center of Performing Arts for a bit of culture.

The national World War 1 memorial/museum is cool to see if you have any interest in that sort of thing. The Kansas City Zoo is also something to see. It may not be the best in America, but it's solid.

If you're looking for something different to do, there's a nice indoor go kart race track near where you're staying in Overland Park. LINK

Oh and as I'm sure you already know: BBQ BBQ BBQ. Indulge yourself while you're there. Arthur Bryant's, Gates and Sons, Oklahoma Joes, Fiorella's Jack Stack (upscale), etc..try it all!!! You will not be disappointed. Too many places to list, but here's a start.

That should give you a start on some ideas. I'll post more if I think of them.

In the meantime, check out the visit KC website. It's very informative and a great resource for your questions!

Brave.
Good looking family.

Make sure you visit Prospect and the Paseo to get a good taste of the local culture.

Bring your gun.

Seriously: from an out-of-Towner perspective, I have a good time at Power and Light District. It's corporatish, but still fun.

Thank you kind folks.

I was researching good dive bars that had darts and have decided to visit Chez Charlie's. What did it for me was this unfavorable review:
"Okay, so my bf and I stopped in there one night cuz we heard it was cool and we like the more quiet, neighborhood bar places We walked in there and it was packed, so we thought that was a good sign. We sat down at a table, but no one came over to wait on us. We decided to go up to the bar. When the bartender asked for our order, my bf asked for an Amstel Light and YOU WON'T BELIEVE IT CUZ I DIDN'T: The bartender called him a pu**y, and besides that, they were all out and came back with a can of Olympia! I've never even heard of that before. Probably isn't even a real beer. Anyway, we definitely won't be going back!"

That's my kind of place.

Wife is gonna be sick of BBQ by the time we leave. I think I can fit in Oklahoma Joe's in addition to Gates and Arthur Bryants.

I hope you enjoy your trip. My recommendation would be to eat a bag of mushrooms and go to the art museum. We do have a great art museum. If you're opposed to art, then I'd recommend a baseball game, world's of fun, crown center, the plaza, and the negros leagues museum. Jack stack is good for bbq. So is Oklahoma joes. Bryants is my favorite but their sauce is different and many people don't like it. Overall I hope you enjoy your stay. It is a fun place. Oh and the basketball experience at the sprint center is cool too.

To add on to the input from everyone, if your wife likes chocolate check out Christopher Elbows Artisanal Chocolates in the Power/Light District.

Also this might be random but if y'all like go karts there's a good indoor place called Extreme Grand Prix in Raytown.

Hope y'all have fun!
