We haven't talked much about our kicking unit. Those will be two interesting spots to keep track of

Definitely. Our special teams has been a highlight of the last few years, so I hope we can keep that going. The roster shows Carlson gained 11 pounds since last year. Hopefully that means he's got one skinny leg and one huge one.

OP linked with RL notes from today... still updating but so far...
quote:
Offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee is scheduled to meet with the media for the first time since the BCS Championship Game today.
Follow along for live updates.
** Lashlee: "It feels like we got on the field quick. ... Obviously, there's been a lot of carryover."
** Lashlee says first two days are only in football.
** First day in pads will be Saturday.
** Lashlee has a lot of praise for Auburn's four newcomers on the offensive side of the ball: D'haquille Williams, Stanton Truitt, Xavier Dampeer and Chris Laye.
** Lashlee on Williams: "He's got God-given ability."
** Lashlee: "The cool thing for me is we've got a lot of talented wideouts."
** Lashlee says Williams is playing in the "9" spot on the outside. Will start moving him once he learns the offense.

Dominic Walker looks really big did he redshirt last year? Marcus Davis swole up and Therezie looks like a 5'9 MLB

Absolutely

Williams at the 9 spot huh? Nick better have those intermediate to long passes down pat.
Having him and Coates out there could be scary good.

So Gus's practice schedule is like a Jimmy Buffet concert schedule, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Curious in reading the blurb on 1st team D, is Elijah really going to play some both at end and tackle, or was that a typo?

That is correct. He did it some last year as well.
The Tues. Thurs. Sat. schedule most likely has to do with class schedules. Tues and Thurs are usually the lighter days with regards to classes. Makes getting everyone there easier.

quote:
** Auburn will likely use three running backs early in the season and see who takes over.
** Auburn's focus at running back is to get a player who can generate his own yards.
** "Cam and Corey have proven themselves a little bit more. This will be a big spring for Peyton, in terms of a lot of volume, learning protections."
** Only two of Auburn's sacks last season were credited to the offensive line.
** Auburn is keeping Young on the right side, leaving Patrick Miller and Shon Coleman on the left.
** Lashlee's really pleased with Dominic Walker.
** Lashlee says Deon Mix has changed his body, a possible guard or center for the Tigers.
** Marshall's done a good job of telling the receivers what he needs. If there's a lull, it's not only Reese looking for calls to get something going, it's Marshall, C.J. Uzomah out.

Nick Marshall completed 59.4 percent of passes last season. Goal this fall? "Between 65 to 70 would be great," Lashlee says.

Auburn thin at WR last spring. Lashlee: "We're two-deep at every position, some we're three, which is a really good luxury to have."

Auburn's Rhett Lashlee on QB Nick Marshall's ability to lead in spring: "The first two days, he's been more vocal than he was all last year"

Auburn's Rhett Lashlee on if QB Nick Marshall can play in the NFL: "Oh, without question."

Auburn's Rhett Lashlee on QB Nick Marshall's passing: "I think we have the ability to push the ball down the field a little more."

Auburn's Rhett Lashlee on losing OT Greg Robinson: "I don't think it'll be a huge, noticeable difference. We have four returning guys."

***Lots of energy, lots of carryover from last year. Good first two practices in shells. Going to have a physical spring. Put on the pads Saturday.
***All four new guys on offense are doing a good job so far. Picking it up pretty quick. Getting help from older guys.
***D'haquille Williams has God-given abilities that are really good. Still getting acclimated to how they practice, but has a great attitude. Have a lot of talented wideouts competing and pushing each other. D'haquille working at the 9 (boundary receiver) position right now.
***Nick Marshall has been calm and confident first two days. "That's been huge," Lashlee said. He expects completion percentage and execution level to go up. Would like him to complete between 65-70 percent of his passes this year. Confident all the QB's can improve a lot this spring and summer. Wants Marshall to be a complete QB this season.
***Truitt is fast, can really run. Similar size to Marcus Davis. Fits in slot position well right now. Could also work on speed sweeps and possibly special teams.
***Doesn't expect a huge, noticeable drop in production from the OL with loss of Greg Robinson. Thinks Patrick Miller and Shon Coleman have potential to play on next level too. Rotating both equally right now.
***Avery Young staying on right tackle for now. He's talented enough to play any of the five positions.
***Ball security a huge emphasis this spring.
***Have three really good RB's this spring. Going to give them a lot of touches this spring. They want RB's that can generate yards after first defender.
***CJ Uzomah, Brandon Fulse, and Gage Batten getting reps at H-back. Chris Laye working at tight end. Ricky Parks getting acclimated back to the team.
***Only two of Auburn's sacks last season were because of the OL.
***Sammie Coates has been a vocal leader. Expect him to continue to take the next step.
***Pleased with Dominic Walker first two days. Things slowing down for him.
***Deon Mix has changed his body. Works hard, loves Auburn. Could play guard or center.
