He'd be making even more money if he could hire someone like Pearl if he looks at the end game. Surely a $5 million buyout couldn't be that hard to come up with for what most would agree is a Big 3 sport at a program that reported $143.4 million in revenue in 2013.

And I speak as a fan of a school who was in the opposite situation with Joker over the FB program, but Barnhart clinged for dear life. Fans stopped showing up, Joker got the axe, UK finally spends a little money on football, and Stoops has generated a lot of interest and money for the program in just a short span of time.
So I totally get the whole "But it's not our flagship" mentality and it just doesn't work when it's absolutely possible for a major athletic program like Alabama to have success in more than just football if they wanted it.

Think about it this way. If you bring in a proven cheater like Bruce Pearl, the NCAA will be crawling all over Alabama trying to find shite.
Do you really want the NCAA crawling all over a program as corrupt as Alabama?

I dont like the idea of NCAA guys crawling around anymore than anyone else, but I want a fricking winning basketball program dammit. Basketball is a FAR dirtier sport than football anyway and the NCAA has proven lately that they are impotent.

Pearl's show-cause doesn't end until August.
He will take another year off as if he was to take a job, had the normal amount of transfers and decommits, he personally wouldn't be able to go out and recruit from the limited talent pool that is still available.

The job at his alma-matter may be opening up next year if not this, that will be another reason he will decide to sit out a year.

There is a school from Athens who had the SEC POY (KCP) in 2013 and was saying the exact same thing about their coach last year. They had their best conference finish this year since 1990.
The same school went to the final 4 for the 1st time ever in 1983 after losing the best player ever to suit up for them in Dominique Wilkins. 1983 would have been his senior season but he opted for the NBA instead.

The league is so weak the next few years, that Grant has a chance to stick around a few more years. A couple of above average players can get you to the Big Dance.
