Do you think we will ever have another D like 2011?

Or even close? I miss that D.

It's going to be tough. That defense was first in many categories. Moreover, they were first by a mile in several categories. To compare a defense to other all-time greats one would have to consider the era it played in. If memory serves the defense surrendered 13 touchdowns on the season. I think around 5 of those were returns. Something like 8. That is crazy good.
Note: I don't have the time now but I want to throw some stats down on this. I will do it tonight or tomorrow.

Yes, one day. Another like that soon though? I don't know, 2015 has potential, but too many question marks since we haven't seen some of the guys play. But the talent level is INSANE, and if they listen to the coaching and keep improving and playing with heart, then maybe that 2015 squad could do similar things. No idea if it could match that 2011 squad though.

1992 vs 2011, I think the game would be decided 6-3

I think that 2015 has the potential to have a similarly talented and polished defense.

That 2011 defense was pretty tits. When you take out the kick off return for a touchdown in the Georgia Southern and Auburn games, as well as the fumble recovered in the end zone for a touchdown in the Auburn game, the Alabama defense officially only allowed 9 touchdowns to be scored against it in 2011. And one of those touchdowns was set up by an interception return to the 1-yard line, while another was set up by a kick off return to inside the 20-yard line.

I agree, but that doesn't make greatness. 2011 was a hateful bunch.

1961, 1979, 1992, 2011, ????
With that pattern, I'm thinking some time between 2024 and 2030...

It will be 2026. The pattern is 18 13 then 17 so I can only assume the next number is 12. Of course that's not counting the other championships we just acquired after 2009.

Really hoping that Tony Brown and Marlon Humphrey can both live up to 5 star status and develop into shut down corners by 2015.
If that happens, then I think 2015 could be a very special defense. The LBs and DL are stacked and safety should more than good enough. If we have two guys on the outside that can shut down their guys one-on-one, Alabama's defense becomes an absolute terror with all the talent there is in the middle of the field.
