Just looking over this but those numbers for Texas are VERY conservative, they have Florida with more cable subscribers than Texas in spite of having 7 million fewer people. That means either the data is wrong or Texas has a much higher rate of satellite subscribers. Either way, there is a lot more money on the table.
Personally I've been going back and forth on switching from DTV to UVerse (had a thread on the Rant on it as well) and I think I am going to make the UVerse switch after all.

Almost all the football games are simulcast on the national feed so why would DTV care about a bunch of other regional sports nets that don't have anything past a few college basketball games to offer?
I found this quote to be incredibly fascinating

Further, the contract now resets all the Pac-12 Network carriage fees should the network agree to a deal with DirecTV that is below what others are currently paying. The others would get a lower negotiated rate that matches DirecTV. While I blame both sides, I'm now wondering if the conference's claim that DirecTV doesn't want to come to the table is really just the conference's way of saying they don't want to give up money already in the bank chasing wider distribution.
I wonder how common this is. It makes sense because if I'm an early adopter, I'm pissed if my biggest competitor gets a better rate. Makes me wonder if this is similar reasoning as to why LHN is supposedly being left out of the new DTV-Disney deal.
And it may also be what the Disney folks are saying about "learning from past mistakes" when talking about SECN.

I hope that Directv will pickup the SECN but I think they might miss a year.
I think I might get to attend the USC game in person (and I am within driving distance to all home games) so I will give them a year before I start making decisions.
What I wonder is: Will ESPN be willing to play hardball to make the SECN a nationally carried network?
One interesting thing about the LHN is how so many deals are only for our region and state. I would think SEC leaders would want a more national brand than that.

So @SECNetwork coming out of gates strong with six football games airing on the opening weekend. @comcast and @directv still don't have it.
Not sure what the 6 games are though. Maybe he's just assuming 3 for Sat? Right now I think they've only announced

if they really want to get hardcore with pushing SECN in South Carolina they'll put Clemson/UGA on it.

ACC won't allow that.

By doing this, you put 2 conference games and four nonconference games. You also cast a wide market net hitting the states of Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Mississippi, Texas, South Carolina, and Missouri.
West Virginia at Alabama, Clemson at Georgia, Wisconsin at LSU, and Boise State at Ole Miss will all be ESPN/ABC games.

As long as it's an SEC home game they don't really have a choice. That's how Ole Miss ended up playing on the Longhorn Network last year.

more on-air talent continues to be added. Maria Taylor officially announced: LINK
She's going to be the sideline reporter for Musberger/Palmer crew and will be an analyst for volleyball and women's hoops (she played both at UGA)

She's gorgeous.
And as a uga grad, I'm sure she's intelligent too.
