$60million High School Stadium in Allen, TX has foundation cracks after a year

After spending $60million on a stadium, they have pretty large cracks in the concrete foundation after only 18 months. They closed the stadium indefinitely and likely will miss the upcoming fall season

North Texas has ridiculously expansive soils. Foundation repair is a huge industry down there.

After just 18 months though? They should have accounted at least for a little bit of that when building it

Seems like the engineers are sleeping down there.
Or they just hired some Mexicans to lay the concrete and pocketed the money.
For 60M you'd think they'd get a stable facility unless there's some shite going down.

I am willing to bet when they saw the price tag to build it right they balked and found another geotechinal firm to retest the site until they got results that fit their budget. I've seen it time and time again.

This thinking is just absurd. Especially if you are going to drop this type of cash. Happens in Auburn too

I'd think so too, but I'm sitting in a place trying to get some electrical stuff done. They can get it done with permits, but they don't have to charge as much. I don't know how it happens, but it does.
Now that I've got a guy getting me permitted work for half price, do I really care how it gets done? The gubmit permits are supposed to keep me safe.

I think one of the newer dorms in ttown had a similar issue. Although it may have been that it was discovered that the foundation was sinking a year after it was built.

Yes it is. I live in Allen now (still in Plano ISD, though) and pretty much everyone at some point has to have their foundation repaired. It set me back about 7 grand myself.
I don't pay Allen ISD taxes, but that's super shitty for the kids probably not getting their home games. I'm interested to know just WHERE they will play them. That huge arse band won't be able to go in full no matter where they go.

Every concrete foundation has cracks. They probably have a foundation issue, which is a major problem if true.
