Also, we had nine motherfricking defensive starters out for the game.
Doesn't really take away from the argument that our offense laid an egg for the entire first half.
In the same breath, I can give Freeze's offense credit for getting the job done against LSU in both 2013 and 2014.

Your offense sucked because our guys were fired the frick up and took the bitches on your offensive line to the woodshed.

He also gave ole miss our first 10 loss season, and in year 3 we are just now getting over the terrible depth he left us, in 2012 we had 5 serviceable offensive linemen, no depth behind them, the fact that we made a bowl game that year was a miracle.
Lol at stacked cupboard, had 53 scholarship payers in 2012, STFU

Yes, the weirdest thing of all about the Ole Miss fan culture--one that really is deserving of a major sociological study--is that BOTH a deep-seated inferiority complex and being delusional exist AT THE SAME TIME.
It truly is the most bizarre cultural phenonmenon I have ever witnessed among sports fans anywhere, and I have been exposed to an awful lot of them.
Oregon has out-achieved USC and UCLA for a long time, despite having a smaller enrollment, in a state with a much smaller population--and one that does not produce much football talent....and I can guarantee you that nobody there believes there is a "ceiling" for their program.....
Your inferiority complex is of your own making and is your problem to conquer....

As bush league as that statement was and always will be, it's kind of ironic a state fan making fun of it due to the fact that out of all SEVENTEEN BOWLS they have been to....never have they been to back to back NYD bowls.

Our O-line played poorly, no doubt. Gave up 4 sacks and rushed for only 43 yards against Bama. There's a reason Mett had to hobble off the field.

Ole Miss is the only opponent I actually consider worthy of a rivalry.
Just wish the Magnolia Bowl had a trophy that didn't suck.

That is precisely the kind of thinking that has led to an eternity of mediocrity. Neither LSU nor Alabama was a "juggernaut" until they hired Saban--in fact, both programs were badly decayed and had seen little success in a decade.
Alabama won the SEC in 1992 and 1999; Alabama also won the national title in 1992. While LSU had a "bad" decade in the 1990s, they were, arguably, a top ten program all-time up until 1990. It merely took the right man to keep the talent in-state. However, the be-all-end-all is money. Alabama and LSU have an incredible amount of funds directed towards athletics, specifically, football, and we just can't compete with that year-to-year. I'm not saying we can't every three or four years, but, unless a massive windfall falls our way, we are unable to do it.
quote:
Texas A&M has not been a national power for a long time--even last year, they only went 8-4 and nearly lost to Duke in their bowl game.
TAMU's endowment is $7.6 billion, system-wide. The University of Mississippi's endowment is $462 million. Again, it boils down to funds.
quote:
Auburn went 0-8 in the SEC year before last....and have the serious disadvantage of having to share a relatively small state with another national power.....
Auburn is a top fifteen program all-time and spends more on football than we do, far more. Also, Alabama is much more talent rich, not per capita but overall, than Mississippi is. Because of their meteoric rise in the 1980s and 1990s, Auburn has become a regional, nearly national brand. We're barely scraping the cusp of being a regional brand because of our despair in the past 40 years.
quote:
The "juggernauts" exist in your head, which has been conditioned to think of your own program as inherently inferior ("A celing certainly exists")
The difference between Ole Miss and other SEC programs is mainly one of the mentality and culture surrrounding the program, nothing else--if you expect to be mediocre and consider it perfectly acceptable, that is what you will always be.
Revenue, not profit, per SEC West athletic department (as of 2012)
Alabama - $125 million (#4 overall)
Texas A&M - $119 million (#6 overall)
LSU - $115 million (#7 overall)
Auburn $106 million (#10 overall)
Arkansas - $100 million (#14 overall)
Mississippi State - $70 million (#38 overall)
Ole Miss - $52 million (#51 overall)
The numbers do not lie. Four of the ten most profitable athletic departments are in our own division. Five of the fifteen most profitable athletic departments are in our own division.

If you take off the purple and gold shades you could easily see that we controlled the LOS the entire game. LSU fans are taking a page from the Alabama notebook: "Y'all didn't beat us, we beat ourselves, despite the fact that we've split the last six games."

For a long time? Try the past decade, and that's about it. Also, Nike has lost more money on Oregon than we've ever had.
You're a terrible alter, brah.

Yeah, thank you for the entire litany of excuses for failue that Ole Miss fans have been throwing out there for all eternity.
I can sum up your entire post with 2 words:
"We can't"
And nobody in the history of the world has ever truly succeeded at anything when "We can't" is their attitude.
The rest of the SEC ridicules and disrespects Ole Miss because they know it could do better, but is prevented from doing so by the contentedness of the fan base and alumni with mediocrity.
And nobody is going to respect someone who doesn't respect himself, nor should they.
Do you realize that virtually ever state university in the country has had a top 5 finish in either football or basketball in the last 40 years, except for Ole Miss? Even MSU has been to a Final Four. And all of them have disadvantages vis-a-vis other programs in their conference and nationally.
Because none of them think the way you do.....

Freeze seems like a solid coach. But until ole miss makes it to atlanta they are who we thought they are. Capable of pulling a few upsets, but never a threat to win the sec.

Most of the conference enjoys us and loves the grove?

No, LSU and Alabama have great programs because they have more money and more talent than us. The "want" you speak of, Coach Miles, is there. The things that can transform the "want" to the "do" are the inherent characteristics that the successful programs have, such as money and access to talent.
Don't be dense.
