Jackson was slightly more OM in the 80's. Now it's JSU mainly. Madison was strong OM when I was in high school in the early 90's now State leads by a small margin. Rankin is huge MSU. From Hwy 82 south it's MSU, north for a ways it's about even, then OM. OM has a ton in Memphis, State has a lot there, Birmingham, Houston, and Texas in general. OM has a lot in Atlanta.

Major town's fanbases in your state

It is surprising how many New Orleanians go to Bama. DKE fraternity is almost all Mobile & New Orleans dudes.
Ehh, its just the "thing to do" right now. The kids want to get out of state and do something different than LSU, the Greek scene at Alabama is rivaled by few, their football team is highly successful right now and such.
This is truly comical. The majority of NOLA area and SE LA kids still stay in state. LSU also has one of the oldest, most traditional, and most beneficial (to the students and the community) Greek systems in America. And LSU is the winningest CFB program in America since 2005.
Alabama is two states over. There are still a few students who go out of state, some to Ole Miss, some to Bama, etc. but actually, Catholic and Private High Schools in New Orleans are some of the best in the nation, with test scores similar to those in the Norhteast. Many go to Ivy League Schools.

Im gonna take a stab at Georgia.
Atlant- no favorite. A lot of fans of every variety, but has UGA, GT, Ga State, and Auburn at the top.
Savannah- UGA, followed close by GA Southern
Macon- UGA
Columbus- Auburn......or Bama....or UGA....really, just whoever is the best at the time.

I see. Yeah, I know we have a decent base in Houston because of engineering majors, but not sure about anywhere else.

decent is putting it nicely. The only State grad I have met in all my years in Houston was a MD about 15 years ago. Haven't met a State engineer in the 5 years I've been one in Houston.

I know lots of State grads in TX, both young and old. We have alumni chapters in at least 5 cities. The Houston area has the most by far. Main reason-jobs. I guess that's hard to comprehend.

State and every other large public university has an alumni group in Houston. By no means are most of those groups large enough to be a major fanbase. I sure dont hear state games on the radio or read any coverage in the Chronicle. In Houston its 1. A&M, 2. Texas, 3. LSU, 4. Tie between UH, and Tech.

Houston:
1. A&M
1-a. Horns, admittedly there are more TU T-shirt fans in Houston, however Aggies have clearer bigger Almuni fan base.
2. Houston
3. LSU/Tech
4. Baylor
5. Rice

I'd say there is a decent portion of LSU fans.
definitely not an overwhelming amount but if you're talking Mobile and the Eastern Shore... then yeah... I think LSU is better represented in the area than most people realize.
South Alabama SHOULD have more support but they don't.
people are sheep. They'll cheer for Alabama because just about everyone else around here does.

My point was that Houston has one of MSU's largest contigents of alums outside the state of MS. Not that there are thousands and thousands of State fans in Houston. I don't know what difference it makes anyway. I'm just stating a fact.

That I believe. Houston has always been an SEC town, it just didn't know it due to all the major state colleges being in the Big 12/SWC.
