Question for Florida fans.

So obviously this is serious recruiting season for all of us, seems to be the big topic these days and for good reason. Florida has been killing it on the trail and seems to be bringing in another great haul, congrats.
Everytime one of these guys commits to UF the top excuse/complaint is, "why would you go to a program with the coach on the hot seat" OR "is one year away from getting fired".
My question is, IS Muschamps seat actually that hot? What's the sense around Gainsville? Could he be gone next year? What WL record gets him to stay you think?
He's got to be earning himself some good credit with his recruiting. Although we all know about Zook.

I'm no gator fan but I live amongst them. The majority blame this season on Pease and injuries. They think they'll win the East next year.

Chomp's doing one heckuva job recruiting. You'd think as hot as his seat is, it'd be the death knell for this year's gator croot class.
Not even close.
Don't know how he's doing it, and I wish he wasn't, but yeah - heckuva class for the gators.

I live in FL and the consensus is if they don't impress early, he won't last the season.

His seat is definitely still hot. People are still expecting big things mainly because most attribute it to injuries and bad offensive philosophy, both of which should be changed next year. That said, if he is 3-2 after the first 5 games the things could get really bad really fast.

Seat hot? Yes
How to cool it? It's unclear.
The main issue I have is his record against UG and FSU.
Last year was lost with injuries. Most people only apply the injury excuse to UG but we were more snake bitten. When end up with a 4th string QB and 2nd and 3rd string OL with an already inept Offense you are doomed in this league.
Losing to GA Southern was bad and not acceptable but a walk-on LB started that game. That'll give you an idea of how bad the injury bug hit. Yes, we still should have beaten them.
If Boom does leave the Offense alone enough to become just average and continues with a good defense we'll be fine.
I'm not sure 8-4 is enough to save his job unless the offense really comes around. Going 0-4 vs. UG may do it though unless we win the SEC. It's going to be interesting.
ETA: For those saying that UF fans in FL are claiming we are going to win the SEC, I say, stay away from reelgator. None of my UF friends have made such a claim.

Weird situation...
Could be retained with 7-8 wins and a good looking O.
Could be fired with 8-9 wins and a shite looking O.
Everything revolves around the perception of the program after next year. Not necessarily the W/L's.

He has an 8 million dollar buyout. He's not going any where.

Brutal assessment by ESPN, fwiw.

Here is how they graded Florida:
OFFENSE: F
DEFENSE: A-
SPECIAL TEAMS: C
OVERALL: F
Here is some of what they said:

It's rare that a team with the caliber of defense like Florida's is as bad as the Gators were, but they were an absolute train wreck on offense and went into every game with no margin for error. It didn't help any that they were 12th in the SEC in turnover margin. There's no question that injuries gutted this team, but there's no excuse for losing to Georgia Southern or being as limited as Florida has been on offense, really, for the past two seasons. It all caught up to the Gators in 2013 and resulted in their first losing season since 1979. The pressure is squarely on Will Muschamp to turn it around next season ... or else.

9 wins in the regular season is pretty widely seen as the minimum that would keep his job and that would require Florida have a great offense. Atlanta has been bandied about a bit.
Also I don't think people realize just how bad Muschamp's tenure has been-- outside of the Muschamp years Florida has never won less than 7 games in the regular season in the modern SEC-- not even under Zook, Boom's done that twice.
It's sad in a way because if Florida could have hired the Muschamp they're going to fire I think he'd be a decent choice, but the fact remains he was a horrible choice and now he's either learned his lesson and is going to the spread option way too late to save his job or he's flailing around trying to make it look like he's doing something.
His problem is two-fold:
1) He's essentially Florida's Rich Rodriguez- a guy who might be a good coach but is a massive misfit with the culture of the program, that is to say, Florida doesn't fit a power run Bama style program and half the fanbase hated watching it even when it was "working" in 2012 (the season while decent isn't exactly looked back on fondly it was painful to watch most of the time).
2) He was nowhere near ready to take a Florida level job and needed to fail somewhere else first to work out the kinks in his system.

Yes

If he doesn't get to 8-9 wins or at least show some sort of overall improvement (esp. on O), yes.

8-4, but he's got to beat UGA.

Dunno...UF is in Gainesville.

It is amongst the mentally deprived fans that don't understand the ramifications of serious injuries that we endured. Easy to forget the 11-1 season the year before? Boom did not forget how to coach in one year. Fans are just pizzed because they want aerial circus and would rather see us throw the ball 55 times a game.
2014 will be a reminder that Boom knows how to coach and we will crush some teams. 10-2 is my prediction as long as our OL doesn't get injury prone.
Our new OC Roper will be have us offensively sound and Driskel will prosper....book it.
