The most common sense option is the most unpopular and will never happen, eliminate the mortgage interest deduction.
It makes no sense, it’s just a taxpayer funded gov handout from non home owners to home owners. All it does is reset the housing market (w higher prices).
I’ve personally benefited tremendously from it (wife and I have owned 3 different homes so far, saved tons) so it’d be a bummer to see it go, but let’s not pretend it makes any sense.
