It’s pretty likely things will stay the same (June) but if they’re going to make a change (I’d say really unlikely), rates are going up, not down.
I mean he's still 1 of the 12 votes needed to make changes to rates.

I don't think anyone is expecting anything dramatically different out of the fed than what we've always gotten more or less.
Your thread yesterday on this topic wasn’t enough???

Go outside man, it’s Friday.
Oppenheimer did 330 domestic (according to Gemini) so that’s probably a reasonable guess.

I’m not listening to any of the commentary at this point, it’s all rumor/hype. I don’t think anyone really knows anything yet.

I also have a lot of faith in CN in general. Even Tenet, widely considered his worst flick, had its moments IMO.
Read the thread, dummy

Them: it’s too woke and will bomb
Me: oh so you’re saying it won’t make money?
Them: *crickets*

What’s the point of even saying it if you don’t actually believe it?

Respect you actually putting a flag in the ground.

Give me a number? (BO revenue $)

ETA: I’m assuming by budget you mean break even (650) not actual budget (250). There’s no chance it won’t hit 250, it’ll probably do that in short order.
Ooo that’s actually a good call, quietly a very solid Ridley Scott flick.

Love the Ed Norton nugget, forgotten that too. Liam Neeson was also excellent (although short lived) in that film.
Do you think it’ll lose money? Break even is about 650m.

I’ve asked multiple posters to actually call their shot and they’re all predictably terrified of embarrassing themselves on an anonymous message board , it’s pathetic.

I’ll even go first. I’ll guess $900m ish (Oppenheimer did about 950, for reference), which would be a profit of about $1/4b.
Orlando Bloom (while great in LOTR) was unwatchable in everything else he did. Awful actor, outside Legolas.

Sure thing, random internet poster not willing to make an actual stand on anything. You got me!
For about 15 years revenue from NYC to Albany has grown in terms of $ and %. During the same stretch the amount (of their money) NYCs gotten back has remained relatively flat.

Should that just continue forever? Shouldn’t they get some of that additional revenue back? What’s the logic here?
Revenue from NYC has steadily climbed for about a decade+ while the money they're getting back during that same period has remained relatively flat.

The discrepancy is currently about $21b annually.
All true but Troy was widely shat on at the time. There were so many better epics (Gladiator, LOTR) and Troy just frankly wasn’t as good.

I thought it was a fun flick tho. Saw it in theaters, no regrets.
Be specific. Break even is about $650m, are you saying it won’t hit that figure?

Wanna do a ban bet? You’re already 0-1 against me on these, here’s your chance.

the media and the critics can't gaslight this movie into a financial success.

I don't think I've ever seen a poster argue with himself in the same post

Like Cinderella did right? Rightttt????

No, we're actually talking about the new Christopher Nolan film, The Odyssey.

Hope this helps.

The wealthy are selling their second homes.

This is actually a good thing. They'll be sold to people who actually live there and will spend their money there accordingly.

The state of New York gave him almost 8 billion.

Which was NYC tax dollars to begin with. They subsidize the state heavily, not the other way around.

He cut funding from education as well.

Kinda. He cut private school subsidies that we're overwhelmingly going to wealthy kids.

I think it's almost guaranteed that the domestic US market is lower than expected given all the bad press around castings and trailers. This type of film will probably kill it in Asia though.

We'll see if the movie is better than the trailers.

Nolan (and Hollywood in general) are in the business of taking money from everyone, international audiences included. If it makes a lot money, it makes a lot of money, full stop.

Also, put an actual number on your prediction. US, intl, both, something objective. Be bold!

These idiots have no idea of how finance works and assume this commie just made the deficit disappear on his own.

1. Didn't Kathy Hochul lend @ $8B in assistance?
2. Mandami pulled old budget acuels se aside totaling @ $1B
3. Mandami restructured pensions and debt payments over a longer period.

I know I'm missing things, but Jesus, these dolts are buying in without research.

You should go one step further and figure out who subsidizes who. Might be eye opening....

Personally, I don’t like Mamdani, and I think he could be bad news for the city, but I’m not going to cry about the city getting back more of the money that its paid the state.

Well said, and I pretty much agree. I'm not a NYer so I don't really care about anything this granular, but it's naive to think what happens there (good or bad) couldn't potentially impact future politics in other places.
