Enough with the hyperbole and straight up bullshite from Auburn fans. I don't think anyone in their right mind thinks Coker, or any other QB on the roster, is going to like A.J. the last two seasons. Alabama can be successful with performances like John Parker Wilson in 2008 or Greg McElroy in 2009.

Easy my friend. I know its tough with all that emotion inside, but just try to calm down.

Nick Saban would start a red headed black lesbian Jew if they gave the team the best shot at winning.
If you don't believe that, you're a fricking retard.

I'm not so sure this hasn't already happened.

Bringing in Coker really speaks to how terrible the QB situation is for bama at the moment. They have nobody on the roster they trust, obviously. This may be a good move or he may be processed after next season. Only time will tell. He does have kiffin to develop him and..........I tried to finish with a straight face, but just couldn't do it.

You had me through this part. It's not that our QB situation is terrible, it's just inexperienced.
We signed the #1 Pro-Style QB in the Class of 2010 in Phillip Sims, but he decided to transfer after AJ won the job in 2011.
"
The QB Class of 2011 was extremely weak, abysmal even. We signed Philip Ely even though we went after Coker late in the process after he was committed to FSU.
We fricked ourselves in 2012 in regards to Winston. We thought we had Gunner "crybaby" Kiel in the bag (he was the #1 QB in the country) so we eased up on Jameis. It bit us in the arse because we missed on both and took Alec Morris as a consolation prize.
Now, we have Cooper Bateman on campus who could be good given time, but he's from a state that doesn't have the athletes as Southern states.
We have Cornwell enrolled and he was the #1 rated QB in this class before he got hurt. He still could be fantastic, but time will tell.
Seeing as you are an Auburn fan I find it hard to believe that you are shitting on Alabama's QB situation given that your team's most recent success has been due to QB transfers. If it worked out for y'all, why can't it work for us?

1st round draft prospect is what I am hearing.

Oh stop it. No one has said that
Actually that's not true. His former QB coach, Dameyune Craig, said he had a higher ceiling and was farther along in his development at the same stage than first round quarterback EJ Manuel.
Then there's this:
quote:
ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. wondered if Coker might be a future first-round NFL pick should he transfer for a starting job elsewhere

So you are going to compare Cam and Nick, two guys who actually started at QB, albeit in JUCO, to a guy who has done nothing but sit the bench in college? I have a feeling that most of you would follow saban over a cliff.

You are correct. Too bad he wasn't on campus until July dumb frick.

Andrew Zow...Walter Lewis...David Woodson...David Palmer
AU had four black guys who started games as QBs on their 2013 BCSCG roster.
I agree, it's not that Saban or any of his predecessors at HC aren't recruiting black QBs for some racially motivated reason. It's just that they hardly ever succeed.

Then why did he have shitty offers out of high school and was only a 3star? Then 4th string at FSU?

Both AU guys are victims of circumstance and HAD to go to JuCo so don't post that BS because Coker didn't get kicked out or leave his 1st college
And it is rather naive t think he wouldn't have done the exact same thing at any JuCo if he decided to go that route

To be fair, St Pauls ran a Wing T right after AJ left which really hampered Coker's recruitment. There just wasn't enough film of him throwing the football to warrant any interest. FSU got him in camp and they were blown away by his arm strength. Credit Jimbo and staff for getting on him early. Alabama tried after seeing his Senior film, but it was too late.
The guys ahead of him were a 1st round pick, a likely future 1st round pick, and a proven solid starter when given a chance.

Been well documented in here Bro
Ran Wing T at St Paul's and got the offer to FSU at their camp after he threw and impressed
Lots of guys are underrated
I think only time he was 4th string was when he came in and was a TF

He had an offer from Florida State and Alabama, not exactly shitty choices.

Only a 3star?
Didn't start playing football until his junior year and ran a wing T. Didn't hit the camp circuit because after watching him throw FSU extended an offer and he accepted.

He was the second string quarterback last fall.
