I Have No Doubt That Alabama Isn't a Top 5 Team

Alabama's offense only scored 7 points in the second half versus Auburn and 14 points in the second half versus Oklahoma. For Alabama, that is abominable. I know that everyone here won't feel that strongly, and I wouldn't expect us too. That's the beauty of being human and living in America; we can form our own opinions and are allowed to voice them.
Now, I claim that Alabama isn't a Top 5 Team, so I must list at least 5 teams that would be reasonable challenges for Alabama. Sure, Alabama would be favored over all of them, but I don't care about betting lines; they're a business.
1. Auburn has already proven they can compete with Alabama.
2. Oklahoma's QB played the game of his life and Oklahoma proved they could compete with Alabama.
3. Stanford: Stanford has shut down many good offenses, and it's incredibly tough to run effectively versus them. Alabama would have to win through the air, but they'd be facing the team that leads the country in sacks. Stanford has a legit, very good front 7. Additionally, Alabama's defense isn't very good this season. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hogan have some success passing versus Alabama. Stanford's leads the nation in kickoff returns. I could dig up some more things about Stanford, but this is enough for now.
4. Michigan State: Sorry folks, this wouldn't be the 2011 Capital One Bowl. Michigan State is better that team that only mustered 7 points and Alabama is considerably worse than the 2010 Capital One Bowl version of Alabama. Alabama could win this game, but it wouldn't be a given.
5. Florida State is legit until proven otherwise. They've at least got the talent and defensive coaches to shut down Alabama. Sunseri and Pruitt are familiar with Alabama's offense and defense. If Winston is "on", Alabama just doesn't have the playmakers to get enough stops to win without turnovers or penalties.
That's 5, but there's more.
Missouri and South Carolina would be challenging opponents too. So there are at least 7 teams that I believe could compete with an even beat Alabama on a neutral field.
I could have taken another angle on this thread and just talked about all the WTF moments and deficiencies in this team, but that's been reiterated and would be unoriginal.
I'm not claiming that those 7 teams are better than Alabama, rather, Alabama is not definitively better than those 7 teams. They would all be great , entertaining games, but this team hasn't shown that they'd beat those teams down like teams of past.

I think we end up somewhere around 12 on the final ranking

To be fair, with the way we game planned and executed, I'm not so sure that we would decidedly beat a lot of the ranked teams by just showing up. If we had the same lackadaisical approach to preparing as we did yesterday, I can think of several teams that could have done the same thing to us. Baylor, Clemson, even UCF are not given wins when we feel like we can just show up and win. There have been rumors surrounding the attitude of the players leading up to the game.
On the other hand, if we were 100% focused in our game plan and execution we could compete with any team in the country.

I agree with all of those except for Missouri. Unless the SEC Championship was an anomaly, they are ridiculously overrated.

The way I see it is we lost a few, it happens. Of course I grew up a Cubs fan so I have VERY THICK SKIN.

Will be higher than that.
Lost on last play of game on the road at Auburn (who could win the NC and will certainly end up top 5). Lost a back and forth game to Oklahoma who will end up top 10.
I think the only teams that will be ranked ahead of Alabama are these:
1. FSU
2. Auburn
3. Michigan State
4. Winner of Ohio State v. Clemson (maybe only if OSU wins though)
5. Oklahoma
6. Winner of Missouri v. Oklahoma State (maybe only if Missouri wins though)
Maybe South Carolina?
I think Alabama will be around 7.
I can't see anyway possible 10 teams are ranked higher than Bama to push them out of the top 10.
Which by the way will make 6 years in a row finishing in the top 10 (at least in the AP). Still on a pretty good roll here. Just to make everyone feel a little better.

My guess is right around #10 +/- about two spots

That'll hold true for Alabama most years, but in 2009-2012, that would be a multiple touchdown win over everyone else in this country. This year, Alabama firing on all cylinders wouldn't blow out everybody else.

Does Alabama have a dominant running game that imposes their will on everyone? No.
Alabama wouldn't run all over Missouri, and I'd be concerned about turnovers versus them too.

MAGIC being the operative word here

Well where the frick was this magic at these last two games?

If we don't turn the ball over we destroy all of them. Get a grip. The only thing i can say is that we need to have distinct game plan to attack the individual defenses we face and if in a situation like last night we just need to concentrate on scoring every possession by totally utilizing our talent

Sorry Remaster while we do lose key pieces so does everyone else. Of your group several of them actually will downgrade next year, Auburn especially if Robinson and Tre go pro.
