I actually got a speeding ticket about three months ago for going 80 in a 55 zone. My fine was $160. A $445 fine is insane.

Damn I got one little over a year ago 81 in 65 that cost me $265

In Georgia, if you get a ticket for going 25 over OR going over 80, you are classified as a "super speeder" and fines are astronomical.
They've changed it a bit. Now, if you're caught doing 75 mph on a two lane road, or 85 mph and above anywhere, it's considered "super speeder" status. You have to pay whatever the fine is for the ticket, and then the state of Georgia mails you an additional $200 frick-you fine in the mail.

Eh, it is a major interchange with I-20 and I-126 which is a spur that goes to downtown Columbia. It is nicknamed "Malfunction Junction" for its poor design and frequent traffic issues. The speed limit is appropriate, but I do see people going around 80 through there every day.
Not to mention it is a major speed trap, so Clowney is a dumbass for going that fast through there.

that rules out a construction zone. the cones would have slowed him down.

I know it is going to vary from state to state but I'd say a speeding ticket in the $160.00 range is generally about right. Sometimes I've seen the speeds so excessive that the person is actually cited for reckless driving or some such similar offense and in that case the fines and costs are substantially higher than in the case of a standard speeding ticket.
In my state if the speeding is 15 mph and over the posted speed limit the offense becomes a class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine not exceeding $500, a jail sentence not exceeding 30 days, or both. Here's a link and some states do penalize so called super speeders much harder. LINK

Maybe it was a 2012 ticket since he didn't do any exertion this year.
