Damn. I always heard that if you give a person a good experience, they'll tell 10 people and if you gave a person a bad experience, they'll tell 100.
State better hope this doesn't snowball into other parts of the State.

Darrius Liggins found out the hard way this week that college football is a business, especially in recruiting.
The senior defensive end from Oxford High School was verbally committed to Mississippi State, but the school opted to go a different direction and told him to look at other options. He no longer had a scholarship offer to play for the Bulldogs.
The reason? Scholarship offers are tight this year — Mississippi State is taking a smaller than usual class — and coaches, through evaluation, determined that Liggins won’t be able to come in and compete for playing time right away. With graduation and possible attrition, MSU needs another impact defensive end in this class.
Oxford coach Johnny Hill doesn’t accept MSU’s rationale, despite the SEC school’s work to help Liggins find a new destination.
“I don’t know what it does for other schools, but as long as that staff is intact, they aren’t welcome at Oxford,” Hill said. “If they are going to lie to one kid, what’s to say they won’t lie to another?
“I think it’s pretty crappy that coaches come by, and I tell them he’s committed, and they don’t recruit him. And then Mississippi State drops the ball on him.”

I guess this type of thing is new to MS? This is a pretty common practice in recruiting.

Oxford HS as in where Ole Miss is located? I bet the coach, while maybe legitimately angry, has some underlying biases leading to this reaction.

The coach told schools he was committed and the other schools did not talk to him? Schools talk to already committed players all of the time.
Sounds like we are trying to help him land somewhere else. Most kids that grow up in Oxford dream of playing for MSU. Can't take them all.

obviously...which is why this coach originally coached at Tupelo(boarderline MSU town) for years and sent his stud QB son to play at Marshall.
Sports.....Don't let facts 'n shite ruin it.

That's part of the joke. It does happen everywhere. Clarion Ledger Recruiting reporter writes an article blasting State for it and we all lol @ State. Get with the program, bruh.

Pretty accurate, but considering this was put in a publication you can multiply that by 100+. I guess if you aren't good enough to be a rented mule, you have no place at MSU.

It sucks because the coaching staff can't offer their side due to recruiting rules about naming specific players.
Rumor is that he had a fight at his HS and had other concerns for David Turner, who apparently doesn't put up with any shite from the DL(as seen by 2 of our 3 biggest "stars" basically not seeing the field at all this year).
Of course, it helps that all this went down right as it seems Cory Thomas may be available again...

Ole miss just did this to a JUCO cb earlier this year, I'm just gonna guess the coach wasn't a giant pussy about it.

He's a huge Ole Miss homer both of his sons played for OM.

My point was that I'm sure the coach wasn't a pussy about it.
