Yet we went undefeated and Tee Martin set several college records.

Enjoy watching Auburn play in 'your' title game.

2003 LSU. I think USC was the best team in the country.

Feel free to kill me for that statement, I stand by it.

eta - misread as BCSNCG.

Any championship claimed that isnt UPI (coaches poll) or AP is a bs claim. Talking to you, Alabama.

1998 Tennessee.

I still don't know how good they were. They barely beat Syracuse on a last-second field goal the first game of the season. Syracuse was a solid team, though. Big East champs, they won at Michigan.

2004 Southern Cal. Only BCS champion to have its title revoked.

Clemson 1981

Beat no one really, except for Georgia I suppose, because OSUe in the Orange Bowl with Art Schlichter at QB pulling a Garcia at every turn (or maybe that should be the other way around, I dunno) ... but the big reason Clemson's MNC is suspect is because of the NCAA probation the following year when it was discovered that every single player on that football team had been paid to play for Clemson. Over 300 instances of a transfer of money, goods or services.

UT went up 13-0 scoring 2 tds in 25 seconds and were up 23-9 in the 4th quarter. FSU scored late to make it look closer than it really was.

How did I know what was coming? How can a 13-0 SEC champ be suspect? Maybe you're still chafing about losing at home 22-3. If the refs had correctly called the Arky punter for kicking the ball out the back of the endzone, it would have been our ball on the 5 and no miracle was needed. The title game wasn't as close as the final score, and Rooster Outzen had just led FSU to a big win over Florida.

Just about every national champion in the history of ever had a game or two where they needed luck, but i think it's ridiculous to say that an undefeated national champion in the SEC is among the most suspect national champion of all time.

I don't want to get ahead of myself here, but I'm gonna have to go with the Texas 2014 - 2019 MNCs (The Saban years).

It's just that in the Big 12, he'll only have to play two tough games a year and that will be in the 4-team playoff.

Don't know about most suspect, but I know which team had the easiest path to the MNC, and it wasn't BYU in '84.

9/8 @ Georgia Tech (4-6-1) W 30-6
9/22 Baylor (8-4) W 45-0
9/29 @ Vanderbilt (1-10)W 66-3
10/6 Wichita State (1-10) W 38-0
10/13 @ Florida (0-10-1) W 40-0
10/20 Tennessee (7-5) W 27-17
10/27 Virginia Tech (5-6) W 31-7
11/3 Mississippi State (3-8) W 24-7
11/10 Louisiana State (7-5) W 3-0
11/17 Miami (Florida) (5-6) W 30-0
12/1 Auburn (8-3) W 25-18
1/1 Arkansas (10-2) W 24-9 (Sugar Bowl)

Only one team on regular season schedule ranked in the final polls. Not a single team on the regular season schedule with fewer than 3 losses, and only two with fewer than 5 losses. Almost certainly the only team in football history, at any level of competition, to face three 10-loss teams in the same season - on consecutive weeks, no less (and one of them a Division 1-AA school). Regular season opponents combined record of 50-73-2 (winning percentage of .403).
