I am hurt that we didn't do better than 8-4 with JFF tossing the rock. But two years ago I said I would rather be winless in the SEC than winner of the big 12. I really meant it. So in reflection, 10-2 and 8-4 really kicks azz for the first 2 years seeing how we left the big 12 with a loud whimper. Dang I'm glad to be an Aggie and for us to be in the SEC.

Gig em and Whoop!

This season was disappointing but as you said, if you had told me in December 2011 that Sumlin would go (likely) 20-6 in his first two years in the SEC I would have been elated. Factor that with recruiting and we are going in the right direction without a doubt

I was fully prepared to be 3-9 to 6-6 for 3 to 5 years. So I'm happy with our success. Now comes the hard part maintaining it and getting better.

Honestly, me too. We're ahead of the curve.

Was this season disappointing? Yeah, of course.

But as has been said, I'd have jumped at 20-6 in 2 years back in '11.

Right after we beat NW in the Houston bowl back in 2011, I think we would all jump at being 20-6, the 2nd most watched program in the country, the most polarizing athlete CFB has ever had, and a top 10 class for 2013, top 5 recruiting class this year, and an even better one for 2015. This year was disappointing, but sumlin has us in the direction we need to be going

We have a lot to be thankful for. Hopefully Sumlin can continue to build this program and not stagnate at 8 win seasons. I'm afraid of next season.

The money is better and the neighborhood is much nicer.

I'm disappointed as well but I really feel like things would have been different if Johnny hadn't been hurt or honestly maybe if he had been hurt enough to not play. Having Johnny hurt really cost us in those last 2 games. Had he been out at least we would have focused on the run and had a healthy QB out there that had a chance of making better throws. Worst case it would have given us more cover for the losses and not tarnished Johnny's legacy. Best case we have an extra W or maybe 2, just don't know how the team would have reacted emotionally having to get behind a backup.

Still, it's hard to be disappointed with the direction of the program. I don't think even most Aggie fans realize just how much the sleeping giant has awoken. Will it translate into wins next year? Who knows. What it definitely means though is we now are committing the money and resources to win, period. I expect our revenue numbers to be #1 in the SEC this year and possibly even ahead of Texas. Those numbers could also get a lot bigger in coming years.

Even in the very unlikely scenario that Sumlin leaves I am less worried now. We showed the CFB world we were serious about football with that contract and there will be no shortage of coaches that will want to come to College Station for the level of support we can offer.

We will get to the top of the mountain, it's only a question of how long it takes at this point.

Even at 8-4 A&M will make more $$$ than it ever would in the Big 12. And t.u. is stuck there, A&M isn't.

When 9-4 (which ties the best seasons EVER under Bill Byrne) is a failure, you know we're moving in the right direction.

I guess I just don't want our fanbase to be satisfied with 8-4 when we pay our coach $5 million per year, just because "we're in the SEC and the teasips ain't haha WHOOP". I hope we left that notion behind when we made the move to divorce texas.

edit: I'm not saying any of y'all are acting that way. I'm just worried some of our fans are.

Yeah, but we are about to pull in A&M's best class in our lifetime.

JFF didn't bring championships, he brought legitimacy that will be a path to championships.

Our Ricky Williams.

Took them 8 years after Ricky Williams to win the title.

Hopefully not an apt comparison.

You're only disappointed b/c we'd had such a storybook year 1; otherwise, you'd likely be fine w our year 2 record.

The future is damn bright.

You can't deny that this season has been really really disappointing. This was supposed to be our year. It was time for Texas A&M.

Instead Saban to tu and Sumlin to the Texans and the Ags to the fricking Chicken bowl.
