Should the rule be changed?

No linemen down the field if it's a pass beyond the line of scrimmage?
I think so. Offenses are already dominant enough in college football, and I see this Nick Marshall pass to tie the game as something that will be copied massively.

No. The intention of the rule is to keep linemen from going downfield, but it would be asinine to say they can't even take one step forward. The 3 yard buffer zone is there to limit them while still not making pass blockers be paranoid about taking 3 steps forward while engaged.

Three yards seems too generous to me.
Given the existing rule, I actually see the potential there for a revolution in pass protection technique and strategy.

It was an illegal play anyhow Jay Prosch was blocking CJ Mosley 5 yards downfield when the pass was thrown..he was just over the 35.

You worried about next year? It is a good rule.

So the offensive lineman are supposed to retreat?!? Why don't we play tag and forget all these silly rules.

but Nick will lobby for banning the running back of field goal attempts.

There was a discussion today on Tim Brando's Sirius show about the lineman 3 yard rule... and they seemed to agree that the rule should be changed.

You are wrong. Ineligible receivers can only go 3 yards. Prosh was an eligible receiver, so he is allowed down field. Not pass interference because CJ was not in the area of the pass. So what was illegal?

Isn't the 3 yard rule only a few years old anyway?
Bottom line is any rule that potentially helps the offense will be hard to change. Most people want to see more points, not less.

Every time you've posted this, you've been proven wrong and corrected.
