Saban couldn't have done what Gus did at auburn this year. Doesn't make him a bad coach.

Okay, I see you know nothing about football. No reason for me to respond to you anymore.

I bet he still doesn't know the rule change on fair catches made a few years ago, amirite?

Auburn does not power run. They use zone reads and sweeps around the end. You did it all day on Bama, congrats. But that ain't power running. You don't know what power running is.

And there it is, the typical bama fan who doesn't know a lick of football.

Just because the QB takes the snap in the shotgun doesn't not mean it's not a power running scheme.

It's not a traditional power run that goes back 100 years.

I think a lot of pieces were there for the right coach to come in and have a good season. All it really took was an attitude/culture change and the right assistants. There' no way to know what type of assistants KS would have hired, so it's impossible to answer.

Given his defensive pedigree, it would have been interesting to see what KS would have done with that deep of a DL. Something he never really has had at Bama. Though he has had a deep LB corps.

Another thread in which an Auburn fan announces they are without a date to the Christmas dance.

I think Gus was perfect for the job this year. Whether he was the best candidate for the future remains to be seen, but I don't think AU could have hired a better coach for the job for THIS year.

I believe Kirby will eventually be a top notch HC...he would not have been able to raise the bar this high at AU in year 1 simply because of the growing pains AU would have had had they changed to a 3-4 and a pro style offense...it would have taken him 2-3 years IMHO...

Again, you are wrong. It was called the Wing-T back then. You have failed miserably in this thread genro.

Lol I ran the wing T in high school. Is Delaware still the big wing T school?

Thats not quite Auburn's offense either

Can we just admit that apparently the definition of power running has changed? Or at the very least, the parameters have widened?

I think any team that runs between the tackles should be considered a power running team. It doesn't matter if you line up in an I formation or not. (which very few teams are doing that anymore)

The O game has really evolved over the last ten years. I am old school so I enjoyed the three yards and a cloud of dust/ 13-10 D struggle games. This shoot-out football is growing on me though.

So you understand that while it may technically be true (fullback, leading guard) calling Auburn's offense power run doesn't seem quite right.

Gus recruited a lot of the players currently at auburn to run his offensive system. It was as close to a turn key operation as you're going to get. That's not to take away from what he has accomplished this year because it is very impressive but Kirby would have been inheriting players not suited to his style.

Smart stock is down, Pruit has done better job at FSU this year. Bama has looked lost in the secondary all year

Smart's stock is down. And if he's waiting on Saban to leave, that would be a big mistake. I think bama has learned their lesson on promoting their DC.

Auburn doesn't just run the zone read. They also run iso's, counters, toss sweeps, etc. They pull guards, have a FB or H-back as a lead blocker, and will occasionally lineup in the I or offset I.

If none of these are considered power runs, then you have a very narrow definition of power run...or your an idiot.

Who are you referring to? DuBose was a positions coach, not a coordinator
