Anthony Grant's demeanor

How can he have a smirk after the game? It's like he's just riding out this contract and we'll get rid of him when we get rid of him. Gotta be a great feeling getting 2 million a year to be average.

if he was smiling I hope the team plane loses his fricking luggage.

There is a possibility that you are reading into his response.

I read it as a "shite" smirk. Did what was needed on the missed FT, and the put back was off.

Of course that's what it was. My main point was how in the world could you have any sort of grin after choking early in the season for the 5th straight year.

demeanor? are you fricking kidding me? oh brother.
I'm all for firing him this offseason if he keeps this up but gimme a fricking break.

Totes serious bro
This is actually a gripe I've had for a while in his tenure, especially when teams go on runs against us and he sits in his chair somewhat pouting.

As noted above, I am somewhat serious. The lack of emotion really does piss me off a good bit. When he does occasionally get fired up, the team responds. When he's a statue, so is or team.

I agree he's stoic. probably too much. I disagree that he "pouts" in the instances you're referring to. seems like you're projecting.

When I see a coach just sit there while his team implodes, I view that as pouting. That's referring to instances in previous years though, not this year.

I'm fully off the bandwagon.

It's crazy what he hasn't done here....we have/had a shite load of talented guys and he simply cant get it done.

I don't think our problem has anything to do with pouting, imploding, or quitting or whatever you wanna call it. we play hard most nights, rarely get blown out, regularly get up off the deck when the other team has gone on a run. those are facts that have been true of most of our teams. I do sometimes wish he'd be a little more aggressive with timeouts but he is not alone in being more conservative with them, including many successful coaches. that's the main reason I think this is a ridiculous criticism. playing hard is the last thing I would ever whine about re: grant's teams.
our problem is that we have a very raw, unskilled basketball team and don't have a scheme good enough to offset this. I will say, there aren't many schemes that could when you can't shoot from the perimeter and have no real threat in the post. but that's all on grant because he's been here long enough to be held accountable for the personnel and our continuing struggles on offense.
again, I'm on board with replacing him, I just think the pouting argument doesn't fit here. yes, he's a stoic coach, but in many cases, there is something to be said for that. the long and the short of it is we have a bunch of scrubs on offense and no creativity on that end. I just don't think grants demeanor has a ducking thing to do with it. if we were laying down in games, I would think you had a point, but we play pretty hard. we 're just not any good.

if Jacobs would become more aggressive and demand the ball this could easily be the opposite

no. he is still a liability on the defensive end, is undersized, and has no right hand. if he's the best we have, that is exactly my point.

I'm pretty much indifferent at this point. We will never make it past the first weekend of the NCAAs under Grant. Hell, we might never make it back to the NCAAs.
I really don't give a frick if firing him would result in 3 or 4 of Taylor, Hale, Coleman, Norris, and Mitchell transferring or asking for a release. It isn't like they will achieve anything of consequence in Tuscaloosa if getting them there means a few more years of Grantball. If we have to blow it all up and rebuild like State, then so be it. At least that would give me a little reason for optimism. I feel exactly like I felt during Gottfried's last season, and I have felt that way ever since we scored 37 fricking points against one of the worst teams Auburn has ever had.
The fact that he makes more money than 95% of all college basketball coaches is a goddamn joke and he should be fricking ashamed to accept his paychecks.

not sure ill ever get over that auburn game either. that was it for me too, and I'm not nearly as pessimistic as you seem to be. ( no offense intended, enjoy your posts.) that night was something else, not basketball, that's for sure.

People point to all the reasons why Grant hasn't been able to achieve more. The fact is, good coaches don't have to overcome the problems that Grant has to overcome.
Because, they don't create them for themselves.

Our problem is that we can't shoot and we don't rebound really well, its as simple as that
