At what point would you actually admit Manziel has thrown too many INT's?

Alabama would need to win out AND McCarron would need to get to 3000 yards and 30 passing TDs (and it wouldn't hurt to finish on this current no int streak he has been on the last few games) through the SECCG. Those numbers combined with being probably the biggest winner at QB of all time would definitely get him into the conversation seriously.

Like I said before, the Heisman isn't a lifetime achievement award.

You're clearly new to this or a fricking moron.

The Heisman trophy is basically the equivalent of the NFL's MVP.

Here's the definition:
quote:

The trophy is given annually to the most outstanding college football player in the National Collegiate Athletic Association, and is awarded by the Heisman Trust, successors of the awards from the Downtown Athletic Club at an annual ceremony at the Nokia Theatre in New York City.

That means that the best player in the country gets the award.

It doesn't matter if Winston has more chances. If he's the best player, then he should be given the trophy.

How is Winston the "best" because he is playing 4 quarters against every ACC team? He just came off of a 1 TD/2 INT game against Wake Forest. AJ just came off of a 3 TD/0 INT interception game against LSU.

2 things

If you seriously think McCarron can even sniff Winston's jock then your'e the biggest homer ever. Bama is without a doubt a better team, but there is no way in hell that McCarron is better than Winston. Or Manziel.

LSU isn't a top 25 defense. Clemson and Miami both have better defenses than LSU.

Manziel gets expelled/arrested/murdered before the ceremony.

He played Wake Forest in his last game and threw 2 picks to 1 TD. Apparently peoples actual play on the field doesn't matter anymore.

You can repeat your talking point about "not a lifetime achievement award" all you want, but you don't vote and many of the people who do vote will absolutely be influenced to some extent by all the rings. More than any other position in football we judge QBs by wins. You should also read the official Heisman criteria sometime.

Manziel has thrown 11 INT's in 10 games including some that led to his teams two losses. It would be a joke to give it to him this year.

Are you kidding?

Maybe his career accomplishments but his career stats are pedestrian.

He's been very good but he's had the benefit of:

The best Oline in the county, best D in the country, best running game in the country and best coach in the country.

LSU is 24th in total defense. Miami is 54th. Miami just got lit up by Virginia Tech for crying out loud.

From the Heisman website, which by the way I had never read before:
quote:

The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work. The Heisman Trophy Trust ensures the continuation and integrity of this award. The Trust, furthermore, has a charitable mission to support amateur athletics and to provide greater opportunities to the youth of our country. Our goal through these charitable endeavors is for the Heisman Trophy to symbolize the fostering of a sense of community responsibility and service to our youth, especially those disadvantaged or afflicted.

Based on this criteria the ONLY correct choice is AJ. Says NOTHING about the MOST outstanding player. I agree AJ doesn't fit that criteria, but more than any of the others he fits the written criteria for the award
