It makes sense....as great a recruiter Saban is, it's still a huge endeavor recruiting against the rest of the SEC, but at UT he would essentially own the entire state of Texas, and still have picking power for elite prospects in other southern states that he has now. In-state recruiting is always easier for major college programs, and TX's talent base blows away AL's every year.

Plus as well funded the Bama FB program has been at UA, IMO it pales next to what Saban can get at UT...

There will be pressure anywhere that you're able to build a dynasty. TX very much included.

If this happened 11 months ago, why is it just now coming out. Seems weird to me.

If I'm reading that story right, it never says Sexton told the Texas people Saban was seriously considering leaving Bama for Tejas. It just says Texas is the only school he wold "consider" leaving for. The "pressure" part just sounds like some bait to maybe get Texas interested enough to toss figures around.

Sounds like an agent keeping his guy's name out there. If nothing else, it's probably good for getting more money out of Bama.

Saban may feel pressure from the Bama hoi polloi. But the money he's making and the success he's having gives him a lot of incentive to put up with it.

As an AU fan, I don't want Saban to just leave Bama. I want Mack Brown to stay for a couple more years, and wait until Gus makes Saban's arse quit, THEN Saban can go to Texas. I don't wanna hear Bama fan excuses, "y'all wouldn't have won if Saban was here" bullshite. No probation, no coaching change, full strength vs full strength. Hit him with that girth and make his arse tap out to Texas.

He was under "special pressure" the day he took the Alabama job. And now he's suddenly afraid of it?

Good lord.

Interesting article. I don't see CNS taking another job, especially Texas.
For starters- Board of Regent reps going behind people's back to have a friendly conversation wouldn't sit well with CNS.

- Boosters involvement and presence everywhere + the ability to come and go as they please would rub CNS the wrong way.

Just wondering, but for those of you who say that Saban would welcome the challenge at Texas, what makes Texas so challenging for winning a national championship? You are in one of the best recruiting grounds, limitless money to spend, and it has the foundation of a great program. I don't see the real challenge.

There are also challenges left at Bama:
-Winning as many championships as Bear
- Winning a national championship during the playoff era.

Gumps shouldn't be surprised if he bolts

He is not "loyal" to any one program or person except HIS process and HIMself

Not mad. He's an amazing coach. Easily one of the GOAT. Just stating the facts.
