Hate to be cynical but when I see stuff like this it seems to be more of a hollow way to put some glitter on an otherwise dull game.
Sure its always great to recognize the troops but if this was an opponent that moved tickets we wouldn't be having a military appreciation game.
I guess the helmets and field will help get just a little more pub in the national media b/c games like this almost always get an extra mention.
It still feels a little dirty to me though when its the scrub games that get these "tributes" over good games that move the needle.

I admit to being pretty cynical about them too. Not just because of the games they choose, but because cheap applause just kind of rubs me the wrong way.
We should have a combined Salute Our Troops, Breast Cancer Survivors, and Kids in Wheelchairs Day to bask in the abundance of warm feelings and polite applause.
