Been offered it, but I still refuse to take addy. I will graduate with a BSME without the aid of prescription medication! It is my little goal.
I probably would have been the same way if I wasn't(at the time) petrified of not being able to choose what engineering I wanted to go in to. I had a 4.0 pretty much in the bag my first semester freshman year, but I didn't want to risk it. Exam time, I had a buddy from a really young age that always had some, took one on the way to the library. Didn't move for 14 straight hours. It was incredible. I also in subsequent semesters slowly worked my way down the GPA ladder to a 1.something... I think a lot of that had to do with using adderall as a crutch thinking if I just dicked around had enough for an all-nighter I'd be fine. And that was a downside... Other than that... it's just like a really perfect cup of coffee that lasts 4 or 5 times as long. You just get in the zone and have no chance of stopping. Dunno. Never felt like it was cheating... I wasn't like, learning something I shouldn't have, and the only "unfair advantage" I had was over my peers that didn't take it. I never had a frat database/nerd email circles with endless supplies of old tests, or paid for tutoring and stuff. Even though I took a TON of adderall in college, I did the overwhelming majority of my work on my own. Although I regret not working the old tests angle harder. Once I had built up enough equity and trust with people by my senior year and it was specialized enough classes where most teachers gave you old tests anyway, going through those was a great way to study. Wish I didn't try to skip every thermo class and cram for an all-nighter for every test. I might not have had to retake it.

I've worked full time 40 hour weeks in an engineering environment. I've spent weeks on site living in a hotel. I've had to work over the weekend in order to meet a deadline for Monday. I've stayed in the office until 7 or 8pm trying to get things done.
I know what the real world is like.
That's what I thought until I got in to the oil field. Internships were the exact same... 40-60 hour weeks, work all weekend and until midnight for the final projects etc... but the real world, is much much different.

There are countless reasons that I don't plan on letting go of this one (a few of which are private and shall not be spoken of ).
She finally told me what was bothering her (I think?) and it makes things a hair more complicated, but it doesn't change the way I feel about her (which she thought it would). Just means I'm going to have to put in a bit more effort sometimes and I'm perfectly happy with that.

Dad is a PE, so I have some knowledge of that as well. Not really sure if I want to follow in that path, but the $100k/yr starting salary his company offers fresh graduating undergrads is kind of tempting.

Yeah, if your defense could stop a AA New Mexico private school JV team you'd have all but locked up the SECw for us. So thanks for that.
