I think the whole "Texas vs the True South" thing is a big part of this. The South already has an inferiority complex. You guys know that your part of the country is the poorest, fattest, and least educated. Now, don't get me wrong; I love the South. If I couldn't live in Texas, I'd damn sure rather live in any of the Southern states than any other region in this country. But I was blessed by God to be born in Texas, so I don't have to make that choice. Like the rest of you, we're loud and proud. Unlike the rest of you, we have dentists and gyms.

I love the South too...but I couldn't take people like you and I wanted a decent job, so I moved out.
