Question my wife keeps asking. It is a darker orange than the team, cheerleaders, etc..., is there some reason for this? I would think they would all use the same colors

no, she is a designer and deals with color for a living, part of the reason it annoys her

Because a coat that uses the darker, actual Auburn burnt orange would look like poop.

I am saying they(band) are currently using the darker color as opposed to everyone else. So is the darker color the true Auburn orange?

I'm not sure... I know the pre-2007 uniforms used a darker orange in the accents and it looked awful.
The official Auburn orange is supposed to be fairly dark compared to a Florida or Tennessee orange.... Not quite Tejas burnt orange, but awful close.

Yep, it's a shade lighter than burnt orange and navy blue. The thing I hated about Tubs All Orange games, is that you'd have 30 different shades of orange in the stands. With something like navy, you may have some slight differences, but you don't notice them like you do with orange.

This may be the same thign with the band unis, in that the dye used to make them was the same, but the material handled it differently than the auxillery uniforms.
It could also be different manufacturers and they may have different dye shades. With Pantone you are supposed to be able to get a consistent color spectrum across multiple applications, but that doesn't always work.

The bigger question is why do we play the Darth Vader Imperial March after our opponent takes 1st and 10 to a 2nd and 4?
A 6 yd gain on 1st down and we play it? WTF band? Do you even watch the game or do you just play whatever's next?

We play certain songs depending on what happens on the field.
Eye of the Tiger - AU goes on defense
Vader - going to 2nd down?
Iron Man - going to 3rd down
Crazy Train - going to 4th down
Then a couple like Gladiator, Requiem, ect. for when big plays are made

To me, the band orange, cheerleader orange, and football jersey stripe orange looks the same.
The shirt orange, Gus orange, and practice jersey orange looks brighter.
The burnt orange is correct, not the bright orange.

That's why I didn't post a photo, its hard to tell from what I found, however you can see the difference at the games. Not sure if just this year or not, first she has said something.

We haven't changed our uniforms, I know the football team hasn't, and I doubt the cheerleaders have either

Don't have much to add except I like the darker orange better. I'm not a fan of the hunter orange.
