Doherty could be really special for us in the slot. Hope we land him.

Marquise Doherty.
Isn't the deal with him that he wants to play baseball too?
That is the rationale of the Iowa site. They mention that he's a great high school player and a minor league scout has interest in him. The speculation is that Iowa stopped their interest in him because of that.
I call Bull shite on that. He set up no official to Iowa and was talking more to Mizzou and Oregon. Iowa realized they were overmatched and backed off to someone more of the Hawkeye variety(second tier).

Hard to say. A lot of schools will back off kids who show baseball interest. Baseball pays better and has a longer career without the health concerns long term. Very few football players who are good baseball prospects end up sticking with football from what I have seen.

Mizzou offered 3* OLB Jack Hockaday today. He's currently committed to Iowa.

Mizzou offered 3* DE Reuben Jones out of Florida.
3* WR/CB Jalen Julis named Mizzou in his top 5 with Miami, Louisville, Ole Miss, and Wisconsin.
4* LB Darrin Kirkland Jr decommitted from Michigan today and is expected to visit Mizzou.

Just ran a simulation on 247 and added Beckner, Kirkland, raequan Williams, Joshua Thomas, Saleem Brightwell, and Nate Howard to MIzzou's class and it makes us number 20 overall class rank. Nice to dream we would get all of them.
I hope we get some more top recruits soon. I'm obviously bored.

Saw a tweet from one of the power Mizzou guys that said things are trending up on two in state products. Anyone know who? I'm guessing Doherty and Howard?

It's Dougherty and Hentges. Apparently Hentges is wavering on his commitment to Bama. After a not so great performance at the Rivals 5* challenge he's fallen from a top 150 player to an unranked 4* and Bama has brought in other TE's for visits. Also some pressure from the family to stay closer. Nothing is certain here but definitely trending towards Mizzou. Lock was said to be playing a big part in getting him to reconsider.

That could be a huge momentum swing. I really hope Mizzou can get to the SEC champ game. It might go a long way in showing recruits we've got staying power in the SEC.

I'm thinking we will get some suprises before NSD, but I doubt Kirkland. Not because Mizzou is a bad program, but because the 2 MLB's ahead of him aren't the leave for the NFL in 3 years types. He would have to wait 3 years for significant playing time barring injury.
However I did look at his tape again, maybe he and Lee take over the OLB positions. He looks fast enough.

Or he could beat out Biesel if he's better?

That would be awesome on Hentges. Where does Doherty project at Mizzou. I can't believe they're planning on all 4 coming in as RBs if he were to commit. Also...are all bridges burned with Ofodile or his commitment still solid to Oregon? Didn't know if Hentges were to flip if there was a chance he might reconsider as well.
