you don't think they wanted Ofodile and Hentges bad?
Pinkel slow played Ofodile quite a bit. Mizzou was one of the latest offers, not near the first. Hentges was a kid they liked but never put the full court press on for him.
We all know when the coaches really want kids (see Sheldon, Gabbert, DGB, etc.) Those types GP has done well with.

9/11/13 Mizzou offer
5/7/14 Oregon Offer
6/24/14 Oregon commitment
That was my first thought too, remembering how there was word made about others offering him but Mizzou hadn't and even Ofodile told people to relax, that he'll get an offer if and when Mizzou feels he had earned it. I do wonder if that came back to bite them in the arse. But timing can't be everything. Oregon offered a month and a half ago.
As for the three, I'd say they wanted all 3 pretty damn bad and outside of Beckner were probably their highest targets. Wanted all 3 of them (not just Lock) bad enough to pull all 3 of them aside (not just Lock and no others).
As for the big show they put on for those big names you mentioned, I don't think the staff had the chance to show the same love. I'm hoping both Hentges and Ofodile agree to that one last visit that GP saves at the very end for his highest targets where they really put on a show.

During the visit, Missouri quarterback coach Andy Hill separated Ofodile, Drew Lock and Hale Hentges from the rest of the group. Lock, a quarterback from Lee's Summit, and Hentges, a tight end from Jefferson City, make up the top three players in the state of Missouri for 2015, along with Ofodile.
Hill took the trio to Missouri's wall of All-Americans, former players who were consensus award winners during their career in Columbia. He pointed out names like Paul Christman, Roger Werhli, Kellen Winslow and John Clay.
More recent names like Justin Smith. Martin Rucker. Jeremy Maclin. Chase Coffman.
All-Americans at Missouri, who were Missourians, as well. All from the Show-Me State.
"Most of the All-Americans they've had are from Missouri," Ofodile said. "He said if they could get us, we could bring Mizzou a national championship."

Miles Boykin is announcing Wednesday. Finalists are Florida, Michigan, Michigan st, Missouri and Notre Dame. We need this kid after whiffing on Ofodile, many think he's ND bound though.
If we miss on him too, after Lock coming to court him on his official and all the open playing time next season, you really have to start wondering what is going on with our recruiting.

Mizzou has never been able to sign big time recruits (in state or otherwise) in quantity. Each year gets a little better, but I don't think there's anything different this year, except fans expectations. It's really frustrating that these kids from this area don't want to play for Mizzou, but kids are different these days. The team has way better depth than ever, I think, and the classes continue to be really good. It'd be great if Boykin wants to be a Tiger, but losing a recruit to any of UF, Mich, MSU or ND would never be a surprise or sign of doom.

What's strange is, check out where our commits are coming from in women's basketball. Like 3 out of 4 or 5 are from Columbia Rock Bridge. I guess maybe it's different for the ladies. Dunno.

Do those girls have offers from other schools?

I don't know. But one was like the #41 player in the nation overall per espnW in this years class and the other two are like #16 and #40 in the nation per espn@ in the 2015 class. I'd imagine they had offers, just maybe not from UConn or the other big powerhouses.

We are lucky right now with the WBB recruits being related to players or coaches. It is a good problem to have and hope it pays off in the next few years. I think the Porter's have enough tall, athletic girls to field a starting 5. LOL

I know Bri Porter is related. Are any of the others?

Ofodile was not considering Mizzou for a very long time. Thought it would be OU, but it was never going to be Mizzou. Oh well.

Do you think the is any concern that Lock decommits? That was the first thing that went through my mind when Ofodile chose Oregon. Little worried that maybe now he feels he committed too early and now that 2 of the 3 instate guys that the state staff highlighted in this class went elsewhere, is there a chance he does the same?

Not a chance, that he decommits.

I like to hear that. He seemed all in during his commitment ceremony.

You shouldn't have brought that bad JuJu up because that's what will probably happen, if Beckner goes elsewhere HE'S GONE.

And before you say I'm being debbie downer just look at how that 2013 recruiting class scattered like roaches at the first sign of trouble.

I'm telling you it's the Pinkel DUI, my Dad knows boosters that's why Pinkel was on the hot seat not just the losses. Parents are funny about that shite, I know a DUI isn't that big of a deal but it is to parents who are making a huge decision in their kids future, you guys have to admit that that looked really bad. What kind of example did he set with that? It crippled us.
