re: Good news for LSU baws: Oklahoma planning to vote "no" on Big 12 expansion
Posted by MizzouMick on 9/27/16 at 4:13 pm
It requires 8 out of 10 yes votes. Boren still is in favor of expansion but the OK Board of Regents (his boss) has been against and recently 'convinced' him to take on the party line.
Also, the OK political structure will likely continue to require the sooners and cowpokes to be in the same conference.

Kevin, if you happen to be reading this, there are MANY mizzou fans who are super impressed with both your current skills and potential upside. It'd be great if we could keep more of the BS male athletes in state - I think that needs to be a priority and hopefully CKA is thinking the same. At any rate, given what he has done so far, I'm totally supporting CKA and not second guessing his offers, etc.

Does anyone know if the baseball Tigers have been recruiting Marquise Doherty? It might be a tough sell, given their play last year, and the fact that Coach Jamison's contract wasn't extended, but I know playing both sports is important to him.

It's official. Mizzou has some of the worst, whiny, fans in the world, at least if the ones who post here are representative.

Actually they've been quoted as saying they go for the best athlete within their grading system, regardless. That's what I've always heard from the coaching staff.

At least they aren't always slamming mizzou and jumping to negative conclusions like so many others around here. All of that negativity is much more likely to "hamper recruiting" as opposed to Mizzou's standards, which I think are appropriate.

Thanks for the info - looks like she has really good bat control with power and is a smart base runner. Has anyone heard about any potential transfer pitchers? That's really the missing piece for this coming season, I think. It's reasonable to expect Paige Lowary to come in and steady that 2nd pitcher sot, but as a freshman who really knows. I think I saw that a few of the best transfer pitchers have already signed somewhere else. I'm also curious...does anyone know if Paige Parker ever really considered Mizzou? She's a high quality all American lefty from the KC area....I'd think Ehren Earleywine would have really wanted her.

Thanks for doing that - bet it was fun watching those again. I had felt that way, but it's good to have the analysis support it. I also feel way more confident with Maty at QB, but the big question is LB. Overall though, there's really deep talent at all positions - the best I can remember at Mizzou. In all years past, after losing the players we did last year, we'd be in a rebuilding year, but it really seems like Mizzou has transitioned to the more elite 'reloading' level of teams. I know people rag on the recruiting ranking, etc., but it's proven to work very well.

Urban Meyer is trying to get him - he's supposed to be going to Friday Night Lights at OSU.
re: Coach Bruce Walker retiring

I'm a little fuzzy headed this AM, but the only time I remember his units (TE or OL) underperforming was when they were hit huge by injury. He's always been able to develop OL very well. It's usually a slow process though. Anyway, I think he's been great at Mizzou and hope he continues to have a good life elsewhere. Thanks Coach Walker. This is also a great opportunity to find a young up n coming coach too - what newer OL Coach wouldn't want to have Coach Henson as a mgr/leader/mentor? Either way, I'm sure CGP will have it under control.

I wouldn't say you are a Debbie downer, just someone who doesn't know what they are talking about, at least in this case.

Mizzou has never been able to sign big time recruits (in state or otherwise) in quantity. Each year gets a little better, but I don't think there's anything different this year, except fans expectations. It's really frustrating that these kids from this area don't want to play for Mizzou, but kids are different these days. The team has way better depth than ever, I think, and the classes continue to be really good. It'd be great if Boykin wants to be a Tiger, but losing a recruit to any of UF, Mich, MSU or ND would never be a surprise or sign of doom.

I'm confident in the coaching staff. Signing day is a ways off, but it will definitely be good to see the final results of what I expect will be an excellent class.

Definitely Ole Miss basketball, but that was mainly because the program showed absolutely no integrity and the worst possible sportsmanship regarding Marshall Henderson and all of his antics. Pretty much showed that they will do anything for wins, regardless of what is right or wrong.

Fatony will be punting. He'll be replacing Brinser at some point - likely in 2 yrs, but possibly sometime next year. I don't think we'll be seeing him at placekicker, at least not for a while. Baggett might be in line for a good year if he can get a hot start.

Exactly.... I've been really impressed with Kim Anderson and his decisions so far. Advice I give myself is to chill out and enjoy what we've got going on....

I think the coaches saw what he will become. He is quick for a big guy and we know the staff develops O line well. I like this pick up.
