Everyone Else
Exactly. The other 13 football/party/state schools arguing academics is nothing but a contest to see which midget is tallest. Except of course for very specific majors and graduate degrees. Auburn is one of the best engineering schools in the nation. Alabama has one of the best law schools. Ole Miss has an extremely highly ranked accounting program. LSU is great for anyone going into the petroleum industry. Missouri has the most prestigious journalism program in the nation.

I said the NE not the NW. I understand what you are saying though.

Only if you don't plan on pursuing anything beyond an undergraduate degree. A degree from any SEC school will look good on an application to most graduate programs.
Yea, I agree with that - Most business majors graduating in recent years have either found a job or ended up at law school due to the crappy MBA market right now

If you study something worthwhile and make the effort you can find a job anywhere in the country with a degree even from Alabama.
Unless you are absolutely terrible in the interview and don't know how to sell yourself.

You missed my dig at the rant and the rant's dig at UF.
All good. I agree with you mostly.

Ole Miss and State are probably better than Baylor. Obviously they have a med school that neither of y'all could hold a candle to, but they are still lowly ranked by Lone Star standards. No real bearing on the Mississippi schools they are both terrible.

Any school associated with baptists is bound to be terrible

Meh. Do y'all even have petroleum engineers?

Of course the list where Bama is higher
Alabama is higher than LSU on most of them academic lists. It wasn't even an Alabama fan that started the thread. But the LSU paranoia jumped right out of you, didn't it? In the end, these are just lists, and both schools are very similar in regards to academics.

This sort of thing is fun but ultimately meaningless. What defines "top"? Business schools, pre-law, engineering, what? I'm sure #1 Stanford turns out top-notch engineers, and I'm also pretty sure Vanderbilt is an overall very good school. But I've never met or even heard of a Vanderbilt engineer, and I'm old.

So you are trying to argue that Alabama alters their rankings because every redneck with a GED in the state applies to Alabama and gets denied while Auburn is such a prestigious institution that those types don't even try to apply to Auburn? Let's not even discuss the thousands of rednecks all over the state who go to Southern Union Community College and live in trailer parks while they wait for Auburn to accept them after they get their Associates Degree. The hypocrisy of Auburn fans is plain hilarious at times. The vast majority of both schools is made up of preppy white kids from the wealthy areas of Birmingham, Mobile, Montgomery, Huntsville, and out of state kids who could not get into UGA, GA Tech or Texas.

LSU has a pretty solid engineering program. Regardless, the oil and gas industry is desperate for civils, electricals, mechanical, and petroleum/chemicals.
