You're in the wrong conference then! Just teasing, bro.
Just give us time, we'll figure out how to play in the sandbox without getting too dirty.
Oh, and it's sis, not bro!

Saban to Mizzou! You heard it here first.
Of course this after Longhorn and Dallas stints.

I was told, from someone who knows, that he's an excellent coach, and an even better recruiter. And he's ready to run his own show - he almost left for Auburn, but from what I heard they wouldn't agree to some of Kirby's terms.

I take it from this thread there's little hope for Coach Pinkel?
Posted on 7/7/13 at 1:05 am to semotruman
Its all lies. He would likely ruin your program. Just let him stay at Bama.

It is looking grim

Nah. I'm not that tall.
And TideTurf? I'm just messing with Lewis a little. But we're obviously willing to pay good money for the right coach, Pinkel's salary is in the top half of the SEC. That should draw a good coach to Mizzou, combined with the other things we have to offer.

We don't know that. But, his current contract only runs through 2017; he wasn't given an extension last year so that he'd have that 5-year window that's important in recruiting. To me, that looks like a no-confidence vote from the AD. This season, he's going to have to win 7 games minimum and put the personal stuff behind him. That's my opinion, but we know there were some boosters ready to pull the trigger last year. Our AD did the right thing, and gave him a year to get things back in order.

One choice might be Mark Hudspeth. 66-21 at UNA then 18-8 at ULL.
He's chilling in South LA, waiting for Mullen to inevitably frick up. Hudspeth will be State's coach within the next 5 years. Bookmark it.

willing to bet you could get a proven HC that is a proven winner..Tressel comes to mind.MIzzou+Tressel could be a bitch in the East at this point and time.

Getting a coordinator is a gamble. Being an HC is whole other deal. Sometimes it works out, but a lot of times it doesn't.

You may not like to hear this but from the conversations I have had with Smart and hearing from others, he is happy with what he has at Bama right now and doesnt plan on leaving anytime soon. He does interview with anyone that contacts him because it is good networking. He loves his job at UA, his family especially kids love Tuscaloosa, and he doesnt crave a HC just yet.

If tattoos are legal in Mossura, I'd say Jim Tressel.
Posted on 7/7/13 at 1:16 am to TideTurf
Right. The HC hires someone else to do the X's and O's, plus the other staff hires. He's ultimately responsible for recruiting. His biggest job is keeping everyone on the same page and moving forward, dealing with a ton of inevitable distractions. A coordinator/assistant does little of this.

If you're throwing out names of established head coaches at the BCS level (Leach, Tressel, etc) there's NO way. Our AD is a little fairy boy who wants to find the diamond in the rough for less cash and hope he gets a bargain. Also, he STRICTLY plays by the rules and doesn't know how to even bend them. Therefore, coaches with any blemishes on their records (again like Leach, Tressel, etc) will not be considered.
Expect us to hire Jack Cosgrove from the University of Maine because he is a family man and has upstanding character and a great work ethic. It's not his own fault that he has a poor track record, he was just put in a bad situation. (Right, Frank Haith?)

Ummm...damn. Well that rules out Tresel and Leach.
