Our current lame-duck coach can't even out-recruit the Kansas schools right now. Ever since his divorce, DUI, and 5-7 record in-state kids are avoiding Mizzou like the plague.

Who should we hire next year? Someone that can snag an occasional 5 star, bag a few 4 stars every year, lock down the state borders, especially the KC and STL area kids, and snag a few gems from Florida, Georgia, Tenn, and Texas.

Gimme some names damnit! I'll forward these suggestions on to our AD.

Pre-compiled list for Mike Alden, in no particular order:

Boring Picks with potential:
Tim Deruyter
Mark Hudspeth
Chad Morris
Paul Roads
Kirby Smart

Value Picks:
Jim Tressel
Rich Rod

Lottery Winner Home Run Pipe Dreams:
Chip Kelly (2+ years)

Stinky Picks:
Mike Leach
Bobby Petrino

Hell No!!!
Dooley, Chiz, Sherman, Mangino, Gill

One choice might be Mark Hudspeth. 66-21 at UNA then 18-8 at ULL.

He would kill to be in the SEC, but can he recruit?

Tim Deruyter would be a good one to keep an eye on this year.

Kirby is the correct answer. This has to be a big hire.

Hudspeth is legit. No offense, but he may be looking at a bigger opportunity as a next step.

Bobby Pertino is the correct answer.

In the SEC? One way to find out. He's done it the right way. Position coach. HC at a small school. HC at a bigger school. He has the experience of being 'the guy' to run a program.

I think he would, yes.

My advice to you is just enjoy basketball season.

For real though, it is going to be difficult to attract a big-time, up and coming SEC coach being labeled a basketball school. See Kentucky for details. Mizzou could perhaps improve by hiring a hot, young coach of a powerful mid major program like Boise St.

Wasnt he almost begging for the Ole Miss job a couple of years ago? I think he would absolutely come if we called. He is winning in the Sun Belt, but I am wondering if we can recruit.

Kirby isn't a big time hire. He might be great, but it's pretty well known Saban runs that defense. We've yet to see what KS can actually do.

Would it make Mizzou fans mad if their coach had the initials of KS?

But they suck at that too. They aren't good for shite. They're worse than Vandy, since at least Vandy has semi-academics.

And to your other point, you could really make that argument about any assistant coach. You wont know until they get a chance.

He has recruited well at ULL for what it's worth. If he would come to Mizzou, then he would be a great hire IMO

Petrino is a very good coach. But honestly, there needs to be some significant penalty in his contract if he effs up or bolts early. His track record is what it is.

Hard to say we're a basketball school when we've never been to a final four. Mizzou is pretty balanced between football and bball honestly. If we ever got out sh** together in football, it would out-shine bball by a mile.

I'm looking for suggestions like the new UK coach who's recruiting his arse off, and had huge numbers of fans coming out for their spring game.
