Brett Bielema & Nick Saban

Any thoughts on Bielema & Saban wanting rules to stop "No-Huddle Offenses?" Do they really have the players safety in mind? Or is it just an excuse to level the "playing- field?"

Saban wants any advantage he can get. Bielema wanted his name mentioned in the same sentence with Nick Saban, and this is probably the last time we'll see that happen.

You're knew so you don't know, but this topic has been talked about extensively

Rules are rules and they change all the time. The rules have changed against Saban several times since he arrived at UA. He may or may not get this rule, but no reason not to try.

How do you figure? I think "Nick Saban's Alabama team beat Bret Bielema's terrible Arkansas team by five touchdowns today" makes a nice lede for a story.

NCAA Bylaw 13
quote:
Off-campus recruiting contacts shall not be made with an individual before July 1 following the completion of his junior year in high school. Any face-to-face encounter between a prospective student-athlete during which any dialogue occurs in excess of an exchange of a greeting (is prohibited). Such face-to-face encounter that is prearranged or that takes place on the grounds of the prospective student-athlete’s institution shall be considered a contact (violation).

In recent years, college football's rule-makers have targeted recruiting strategies employed by Alabama. In 2008, the NCAA banned head coaches from making off-campus recruiting visits during the six-week-long spring evaluation period. The concept was to prevent coaches from "bumping into" recruits while observing them, and some dubbed it the Saban rule because of his frequent recruiting travel.

Last year, the SEC capped the number of players a program can sign at 25 per year. That curbed the practice known as "oversigning"—signing more than the annual NCAA maximum of 25 players that programs can admit, giving them a larger pool from which to build a team.

I thought Houston nutt was the catalyst for the over signing rule with that huge class at ole miss.
Also have there been any on the field rules against saban or strictly recruiting which clearly (pun intended) haven't slowed him down.

They're probably tired of coaches going from girls basketball to SEC coaching jobs based on a gimmick trick play fast paced offense.

There's no reason to hate on what Hugh Freeze has done at this point with Ole Miss. He improved their win total from the previous year and landed a great recruiting class. The future looks bright for Ole Miss and you seems to have trouble admitting that.
Oh yeah, and it sucks that Auburn's savior won't be on campus this year, and had to enroll at Kansas State. DARN.

It doesn't matter because 21-0

No. The No Huddle (whether it's hurry up or not makes no difference) disallows defensive packages. I'm not quite sure why Coach Bielema jumped on this wagon. Perhaps it's the B1G sentiment that he still has, I don't know.

I think it was a combination of the two, both brought national attention to the practice. Saban, because of his success and Nutt because of the huge number.
Either way, Slive is a puss for caving to a few vocal whiners.

I believe it lessens his advantages to some small extent. Still don't think it's a big deal though, all the coaches have the same limitations.

Saban doesn't need the playing field leveled. The rest of college football does.
