The SEC became relevant when Bama beat west coast teams in the 1920s.
Aside from that, the past 20 years have been grand from an SEC perspective. However, Bama has won 4 national championships in that time. A sleepy time for Bama in relation to the SEC uprising. Regardless, one can't ever undermine 4 national championships during that time.
