How was he at throwing parties in high school?

I think Louisiana recruiting will be an interesting dynamic. Fran fricked it. Absolutely had no interest in coon arse talent. Sherman sort of realized what Fran had done, and especially how much Fran ruined Texas high school recruiting relationships as well, made some very concentrated strikes in certain parishes. Sumlin seems to beyond such a regional focus, and after in state recruiting seems to take a different focus. I'm not so sure I don't like a little bit of the Sherman philosophy. There are some big bodies down in the swamp. I'd like to see some solid recruiting pipelines develop in the swamps. And pipelines go beyond the blue chip guys. Certain regions where the best couple guys are fought after and recruited year after year, even if they aren't national guys. We will see.

Credit Sherman for finding him. Sherman had a knack for finding athletes who were raw skill wise (ala Damontre Moore) and developing them.
Everett could very well play his way into a 1st round draft pick.
Floyd will start at safety this year and he will be pretty good.
Im curious to see if Ivan Robinson can finally put it all together this year and get some PT.

It was a very smart move for Sherman to look at La.
At that time, in state defensive talent was consumed by OU and tu. Sherman had no choice but to scour the state and La and find some athletes they could coach up. Louisiana produces plenty of athletes and LSU can't take all of them, and a good number of them go overlooked because their HS isnt very big.

Everybody has always been high on raven, he just hasn't done anything yet. Great athlete, smart guy, good student, hard worker. Hasn't translated yet but he had a very good spring.
This just isn't true. The guy will tell you he's an idiot. He has struggled to learn the defense, but he is the best tackler on the team.

I know I've said it many times here but its really hard to emphasize just how badly Fran f-ed up his relationships with Texas HS coaches and how much work Sherman had to do to repair the bridges that man burned.

What is the deal with Raven? I thought he would be a starter by now, and Ellis will be starting by the end of the year.
The knock in him is not being able to learn and play within the system. His size and speed combo is sick for a corner or safety.

Same true for the state of texas where mack brown pretty much has his pick every year
There has been a seismic shift in Texas recruiting since A&M joined the SEC.
The majority of A&M commits this year have offers from mack while honestly the longhorns are getting 2-3 players per year that the Aggies would take.
Louisiana obviously has great HS talent.
Sherman and Sumlin hit on some under the radar guys like Julian Obioha and others.
Almost every Louisiana recruit has turned out to be a good player. Raven has been great on special teams since day one and this year it looks like he starts at Safety. Raven is a headhunter.

before a&m joined the SEC, texags posts were all about how La recruits couldn't get into a&m due to the superior entrance requirements. funny how hard y'all recruit these academicaly deficient athletes. i guess their OK now.

We are either very good at evaluating or very lucky because 95% of the players we get from LA are studs!
We love our Louisianimals!

A lot of not so highly rated Alabama HS players seem to do well for teams across the Country. High quality of HS football played in the State.

There have been quite a few kids that didn't qualify. Just had one (not LA kid) that didn't get in with us but did at Miami.
go figure.

The only one I wanted in the p&g was obioha.

Everett is a decent college db but no way no how is he a first rounder. Guy is a tweener. Too slow to match up against elite wrs at cb and on the small side for s. Glad he's doing well at atm but he doesn't fit the mold for LSU. If he were coming out now we still wouldn't take him.
