@JonRothstein: Wichita State and Alabama will start a home and home series next year in Tuscaloosa. Return game in Wichita in 2014-15.
Our schedule is a beast this year.

Which is bad for us, considering only a tough schedule could get us in the tournament. I don't think we're going to be good enough to get in on our own; we need a high RPI and conference play isn't going to give that to us

I bet UCLA will be better this year than last year fwiw.

They were both tournament teams last year and Lon Kruger and Steve Alford are both better coaches than Grant.

I disagree. First of all, he was/is very, very overrated. On top of that, he's a selfish player and has all the red flags that go along with a classic locker room cancer. Addition by subtraction for them IMO.

I approve of this. I'll be at the away game in 2014!

Overrated? He will be close to a top 10 pick in the draft.

A lot of folks thought he was overrated compared to the hype he received. Like robot said, I think it'll be addition by subtraction for UCLA.
Anyone know how good Wichita should be next year?

Considering the ridiculous hype he got, absolutely. People were talking about him like he was the next LeBron. His outside shot is just OK, he isn't a gifted passer, and he has a reputation for being lazy on defense. He's basically just an undersized NBA 3.
Not to mention the fact that it turns out he was 20 fricking years old and lied about his age to UCLA, so he was the age of your typical college sophomore, not a freshman.
UCLA is going to be better than they were last year. They have a ton of talent and Alford is a very good coach. I don't think Howland really deserved to be fired, but it might have been a good call. Their program was getting a bit stale.

They lose Armstead and Hall, so that's a huge hit. I'm sure they will be a good team with Marshall still in charge, but not as good as last season.

They have some work to do to replace losses after this past year. Most people here feel they are doing well recruiting though, and they definitely made a splash this past year by making it to the final 4. With their best player, Early, coming back I expect them to do continue to do well.

I saw on twitter just searching Wichita that Marshall said they redshirted two guys last year that'll be studs this year.

This really isn't relevant to the thread but is anyone worried Pollard may leave school with everything going on with his mom?
Asked about sophomore Devonta Pollard, Grant said the forward remains on the team but he said he would not comment further at this time "out of respect to Devonta and his family."
Pollard's mother, Jesse Mae Pollard, was arraigned on charged with kidnapping in a Mississippi federal court on May 3.
"Obviously, he is going through some things that are bigger than basketball," Grant said.
That just worries me some.

Oh wow...didn't know any other Bama fans on this site lived here. Hoping to move out of Wichita to Derby myself.

Well, if there is anyone who can act as a father figure and help him through difficult times, it's definitely not Anthony Grant.

i think he will get his shite together this season...and the last thing we need is another 5 star transfer.

Yeah, there are never busts in the lottery of the NBA draft.
