I was hoping to see a brand new stadium in a location over-looking the river.
It's named for Joe Sewell, former Bama baseball player and head coach, who was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown in 1977.
Also, the New York Yankees played an exhibition game at Bama in the stadium back in the 1978.
Reggie Jackson actually played at the Joe.
Bert Bank, Billy Martin, George Steinbrenner and Paul Bryant are seen prior to the 1978 exhibition game between Alabama and the New York Yankees at Sewell-Thomas Field in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

The baseball team is improving and much better than they were last year. They are just really young this season and next year will be much more competitive.

I hate the Yankees but I never know about that. That's cool.
Still would rather have a field by the river

Not any ones yet that I know of. There were some that surfaced a few years ago but don't know if those were legit or not.

Not yet. They will come out when they present the plan to the BOT, which will either be next month or in the fall.

It wasn't the best option in this case, but it was looked at.

Historical significance of Sewell is well and good.

What makes you say this? Why would that not be a good choice?
