And even if they had it was far fewer than Okie State. Plus they lost at home.
Put yourself in Bama's situation, would you be more sympathetic towards yourselves for losing to the #1 team at home, in overtime vs. a team that lost to an unranked team?

Guess OK St shouldn't have lost to a 6-7 team.

Losses shouldn't play as big a role. Show me who you beat that warrants putting you in that game/playoffs. Only when you look at that for 2 teams and its tied do we then look at losses.

I would be completely sympathetic towards that if it wasn't going to be rematch of the game you lost already. AT HOME!

I think winning your conference division, and championship game, should carry great weight.

Says who?

bama took advantage of a flawed system and won the game when they got there. That's fine I'm not criticizing them or that team who was obviously outstanding. I'm criticizing the process by which we get to these kinds of decisions. Favoring who had the best loss over who went out and got the best wins is totally arse backwards.

Okie St deserved to be in that game. Against Bama.

Do you consider near losses?

Right, but with Okie State losing to an unranked team it forced that into question. You have two teams with losses and one was to the #1 team and the other that lost to an unranked team. The way the BCS point system works and the voters, whose job is to determine who the 2 best teams are, put Bama ahead of Okie State.
LSU already beat Bama once so they should have taken care of business in the NC game.

I'm even happier now that Bama made the BCSCG clearly LSU was way over rated and would have ended the SEC streak by losing to a one year wonder, in the overrated B12, team who would have got extra rest, played less games, due to no league championship game. SEC fans should be thankful for Bama's name value which is the only reason we made the game. LOL@LSU

Again taking LSU and Alabama out of it, I've already said they did what they needed to go and took advantage of their opportunity, good for them.
I have a philosophical problem with looking at who had the better loss vs. who went out and WON the games that should propel them into the playoffs. This is going to be a big debate going forward and I don't want to see this become a trend because Its ridiculous.
I also hate this concept of "eye test" because it's essentially an an excuse to introduce your own biases. Lets look at the resumes and figure out who deserves it and who doesn't.
I'm not saying losses are totally meaningless, but we should be looking at best wins first then go to losses if we don't have one team that's clearly better.
This is going to be a big deal going forward because we're going to have a lot more teams in the discussion now that we have had in the past since you just need to get to #4

That's the system that you agreed to. You don't agree to something and then cry about it when you don't get your way.

Only one group of people, well maybe two, don't think the best two teams were matched up in championship.

If only LSU fans would admit that it was only a problem because it involved Bama.

At least cross midfield for crying out loud.

Why can't y'all talk about the philosophy of this outside the construct of the 2011 season?
